Conan O'Brien hit the "Fury Road" when taking his late-night show to San Diego for Comic-Con on Wednesday.
The host paid tribute to May's smash "Mad Max" sequel with a full recreation of the dystopian flick's most memorable sequence, and sidekick Andy Richter and the Basic Cable band were along for the ride.
Conan and his crew went "Mad" all right, hopping on their makeshift War Rig in full character regalia for their trip to the pop culture bonanza. Key props, including the Doof Warrior's flame-throwing guitar and Immortan Joe's disturbing face mask, gave the sketch impressive ...

Conan O'Brien is making a bid to be the king of this year's Comic-Con with four special episodes of his late night talk show broadcasting straight from the geek gathering in San Diego.
Not only that, but the TV host is moderating the panel for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2, the cast's last ever appearance together at Comic-Con.
Conan needed to arrive in San Diego in some style - and he did just that, suiting up to play the flamethrowier guitarist from Mad Max: Fury Road.
Not only that, but Jimmy Vivino and the Basic Cable Band dressed up as the War Boys and sidekick Andy Richter filled the role of Immortan Joe.
We might be missing a Furiosa, but this is anything but mediocre.
Digital Spy is reporting live from Comic-Con this week. Follow our coverage on The Hunger Games, Batman v Superman, Doctor Who and more.

Conan O'Brien headed south to San Diego on Wednesday to begin a week of Conan tapings at Comic-Con, cruising down Interstate 5 in style as the guitar-wielding Doof Warrior from Mad Max: Fury Road.
With Andy Richter, dressed as Immortan Joe, guiding the rig, and Jimmy Vivino and the Basic Cable Band pounding a set of drums on the back as War Boys, O'Brien swung on top of the caravan and kicked out the vicious riffs. The barrage of noise, however, caused Richter to spill his coffee and soon the late...

Wearing a red onesie and shredding on a flamethrowing guitar isn't a great look for everyone, but Conan O'Brien pulled it off in style on his way from Los Angeles to San Diego this week.
The TBS host brought his eponymous late-night show to Comic-Con on Wednesday, and celebrated with an amusing Mad Max: Fury Road spoof, in which Conan played the part of Coma the Doof Warrior – the guitar-playing madman in Immortan Joe's entourage from the movie.
Andy Richter did the driving (taking advantage of Conan's occasional bursts of fire to grill up some hot dogs), while Jimmy...

Conan O'Brien had to get to San Diego Comic-Con Wednesday, so he and Andy Richter took the only road they thought to take: Fury Road. The late-night talk show host, dressed as The Doof Warrior (it wouldn't be Comic-Con without cosplay!), hitched a ride on Mad Max's War Rig, driven by Richter, and both made their way to the annual festival to spend a week hosting shows from the convention. Richter, who dressed as Immortan Joe, led the group south, but not all went as planned. O'Brien, Richter and the Basic Cable Band, who was DJing their road trip with some serious beats, ended up getting making a wrong turn somewhere. Coffee in hand, Richter and O'Brien tried to figure out what caused them to lose...

San Diego Comic-Con brings in thousands of visitors from across the globe who all travel in different ways to attend the big event. For consumers of geek culture, it’s the Super Bowl, the Oscars and Cannes and all at once. Every year it brings together vast crowds of fans of comics, movies, TV shows, games and celebrities. Some people travel by plane, others by train, and some even hitchhike, like our pal Deadpool seen above. But nobody travels in style, quite like Andy Richter and Conan O’Brien who arrived at Sdcc on top of a War Rig, with Jimmy Vivino’s Basic Cable Band providing percussion in the back. It is truly speculator. Enjoy!

Here’s the cold open for tonight’s Conan on TBS. Plenty of stars and producers will be jetting into America’s Finest City for Comic-Con, but that ain’t how Team Coco plays it. Conan O’Brien, Andy Richter and Jimmy Vivino and the Basic Cable Band decided to make the drive from Burbank to San Diego. “It’s only a little over two hours,” Richter tells O’Brien. Right — if you leave at 3 Am on a Tuesday. Or … if you take their route. Deadline reported in May that Conan will…...

Just when the world thought it was safe from Robert Durst, the wheezing millionaire and accused killer terrorized Conan and sent host Conan O'Brien and announcer Andy Richter into a panic Monday night.
Despite Durst's arrest last week, Richter pointed out that with his money and connections, he could have easily weaseled his way out of prison and gone on the lam. While O'Brien seemed skeptical at first, his worst fears were realized with Durst's bespectacled head suddenly appeared on camera.
A few isolated incidents quickly escalated into a bombardment...

For almost 18 years, from the 1993 debut of Late Night With Conan O'Brien until the bitter end of O'Brien's The Tonight Show run in 2010, drummer Max Weinberg was a constant presence alongside the late night host – at least when Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band weren't on tour.
However, Weinberg chose not to join Conan as it jumped to TBS, and the Max Weinberg 7 became Jimmy Vivino and the Basic Cable Band. That is, until Tuesday night, as the late-night host and his former band leader reunited for...

Donna Vivino, who starred for two years as 'Elphaba' in the First National Tour of Wicked and also in the role on Broadway, just released a jazzy new album called 'Beautiful Dreamer' via Ghostlight Records. This is Donna's first album, which came about in a spur-of-the-moment collaboration with her father, Jerry Vivino, who is part of Conan's Basic Cable Band -- the house band for O'Brien's late night show on TBS. Donna recently spoke with Bww about working with her father, her current project off-Broadway, and the upcoming third season of 'Submissions Only'.
