- Luz Sanchez was born Maria de la Luz Sanchez Perez in an impoverished town near Mexico City, and emigrated to the US determined to pursue her goals by seizing every opportunity.
Watching Macario as a child sparked interest in her about the process of filmmaking. Curious, it excited her to learn how to use her mom's photographic camera. She would spend time with her siblings; dress them up and then take pictures of them. In her teenage years, she took part in street theater performing in the Passion of Christ.
After some time Luz started owning her skills by filming quinceaneras and taking photographs with a friend. A teacher from high school sent Luz and her classmates to an international film festival making a big impact on her life. Later, she started working on comic books leading to an opportunity to be an actress in Fotonovelas.
She tried to find more opportunities to work in film in Mexico, but there were none. She then emigrated to the United States starting with ESL classes working and studying tirelessly until she graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Cinema and TV Arts. Soon after she received her BA in Cinema, she worked with classmates for several years on different projects. She competed at the Woman of Achievement pageant in the International category for Ms. Elite Mexico- America 2020. Her platform shined a light on low representation of women in Media.
Organizations such as The National Association of Latino Independent Producers NALIP and her training as a speaker and leadership in Toastmasters international have also paved the way for her voice to develop as she continues to advance towards the future.- IMDb Mini Biography By: Luz Sanchez
