Welcome to the latest edition of our regular crowdfunding feature here on Nerdly – Back This! – where we take a look at some of the cool content taking the crowdfunding route on sites such as Indiegogo, Sponsume and Kickstarter. This edition we’re spotlighting Brit horror The High Stakes Rollers, from Jamie McKeller and Redshirt Films.
The High Stake Rollers is a sticky, horrible love letter to the splatter horror comedy films of the 80s and 90s. Films that were made back in the days of nobody wondering if shoving a lawnmower into a horde of zombies for ten minutes was alright, or if asking actors to roll around in red soupy goodness for a week or two would be frowned upon. RedShirt films want to go all out, bucket after bucket of the stuff flying through the air with the audience laughing and trying not to throw up at the same time.

Getting down to business in The Book Club Photo: Redshirt Films
What would happen if a quiet little village in Yorkshire managed to secede from the rest of the UK and made murder legal? That's the question behind Jamie McKeller's current project, The Book Club. He's currently crowdfunding for the film but intends to make it no matter what happens, and has star Andrew Lee Potts already attached. We caught up with him to find out more about this tale of cups of tea, buttered scones and homicide.
Pinpointing where ideas come from is tricky, he says; this is one that developed over time. "It actually evolved from an old romantic comedy we'd written which we were thinking of making into a web series. It was originally about a community of swingers where everybody was very free and easy and then we thought, why not make it about a...

What would you do if you discovered you were a long lost descendant of Van Helsing? For Timothy Helsing, protagonist of Redshirt Films' I Am Tim, the solution involves more than two dozen blood, dryly comedic web series episodes. A successful Indiegogo campaign allowed Redshirt to release 28 gleefully bloody episodes, but it is still hungry for more. The British studio has launched an Indiegogo campaign with hopes of completing a third and final season of I Am Tim. I Am Tim stars Jamie McKeller as Helsing, who after 26 episodes has become quite an experienced hunter of the occult while also acting like a bumbling Average Joe. For season three, Redshirt wants to send out its most popular hero with a bang, so it is seeking £1750, much of while will go toward the blood and guts budget (the other two considerations are "location" and "crisps"). If you're not sold on I Am Tim needing your money,...

We've seen a rise in monster hunters lately. Going back to the unforgettable Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer a few years ago, we've recently had Dylan Dog: Dead of Night and of course those crazy kids over at "Death Valley." Now a new slayer of evil is looking to make a name for himself ... and he comes from a very impressive family. Gorehounds, meet Tim Helsing.
I Am Tim is currently gearing up to begin filming its third season; however, first creator Jamie McKeller is looking to get everyone caught up with Seasons 1 and 2 before he brings you Season 3 later this year. Below is a trailer for the series, compiling action from the battles Helsing has encountered thus far.
The series stars McKeller at Tim with James Rotchell, Jennifer E. Jordan, Owen Lean, Tom Cockram (…I know…) and Richard Massara. Simon P. Fisher heads up the F/X team. We've already bookmarked the official website,...
