The Apple TV+ docuseries The Super Models hearkens to the 1990s when four extraordinary beauties ruled the covers of fashion magazines and popular culture: Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington, Cindy Crawford and Linda Evangelista.
“It was a time when music and art and fashion were all coming together. And they were the first influencers … way before there were cell phones or anything,” executive producer and director Roger Ross Williams said during an appearance at Deadline’s Contenders Television: Documentary + Unscripted event. “They were on the pages of the Daily News and New York Post and the fashion magazines and the gossip magazines. They were everywhere.”
Producer-director Larissa Bills added, “These women, I think, be it their force of personality plus the time, plus the culture, it became a zeitgeist where they were able to own their own image. And I don’t mean that literally because there’s certainly an element...

In 2023, Investigation Discovery dove into the bizarre and fascinating case of Natalia Grace, the Ukranian orphan with a rare form of dwarfism, spondyloepiphyseal, who was adopted by Michael and Kristine Barnett in 2010.
“The Curious Case of Natalia Grace,” which has reached more than 10 million viewers across ID and Max since its debut, follows the story of the young girl, who claimed she was 6 at the time of her adoption; two years after adopting her, the Barnetts petitioned to have Grace’s age legally changed to 22, changing her birth year from 2003 to 1989. A year later, in 2013, they moved to Canada and abandoned her.
Michael Barnett, who was found not guilty of three counts of neglect and conspiracy in 2022, called Natalia a “con artist,” claiming she was an adult masquerading as a child and tried to kill the family. The second season, titled “The Curious Case of Natalia Grace: Natalia Speaks,” debuted in January.

After settling her lawsuit against CoolSculpting, which she alleged left her “brutally disfigured, and undergoing a great deal of therapy,” Linda Evangelista says she no longer blames herself for the ordeal that left her “unrecognizable” and depressed as she developed paradoxical adipose hyperplasia (Pah), what’s said to be a rare but serious side effect of CoolSculpting’s fat-freezing process.
“I don’t blame myself any more. I’m not hard on myself any longer,” Evangelista tells U.K. publication The Times. “And how people feel about me still bothers me a little bit, but it used to bother me a lot. I know now that I didn’t do anything wrong. For the longest time I thought I did. I’m not completely rid of it, but I work hard at getting rid of the guilt and the shame. Being a supermodel is not always glamorous, as the original four (Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Cindy Crawford, and Christy Turlington) divulge in a new four-part docuseries. Beyond the jet-setting, lavish evenings, and racks of clothes, The Super Models is an exposé into the industry’s darker sides.
“It’s fashion and it’s fun and light,” filmmaker Roger Ross Williams tells Rolling Stone. “…but also it’s life.

You know their names: Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Cindy Crawford, and Christy Turlington. The supermodel quartet reached instant fame and held the fashion industry in the palm of their hands in the Nineties. To filmmaker Roger Ross Williams, they were the first influencers with indelible power, photographed globally and enamored by millions.
“They’d seen them in pictures,” Williams says to Rolling Stone, “but they hadn’t heard them speak.”

In Apple TV+’s new docuseries The Super Models, Linda Evangelista reflects on being in an “abusive relationship.”
In the third episode of the four-part series focused on Evangelista, Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford and Christy Turlington’s rise to power, Evangelista recalls that difficult time as images appear on the screen of her marriage to Elite Model Management executive Gérald Marie between 1987 and 1993.
“I learned that maybe I was in the wrong relationship,” she says. “It’s easier said than done to leave an abusive relationship. I understand that concept because I lived it. If it was a matter of just saying, ‘I want a divorce, see ya,’ it doesn’t work that way.”
Evangelista suggests that this man was physically violent, saying, as it sounds like her voice is breaking, “He knew not to touch my face, not to touch the moneymaker, you know?”

Though beauty is subjective, some images, portraits and spaces are so exquisite that they become timeless, forever solidified in the imagination of popular culture. The perfect image brings in consumers. Since advertising began, models have always held a place in society. Yet, during the late ’80s and the ’90s, one group of models transcended fashion to become icons.
In the new Apple TV+ docuseries “The Super Models,” co-directors Roger Ross Williams and Larissa Bills examine the careers of legends Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista and Christy Turlington. Four very different women from varied backgrounds began their journeys as teens, later leaping off the pages of magazines and onto global runways. As they became more powerful and recognized outside the fashion industry — even as society started to press back against unrealistic beauty standards — they learned to speak up for themselves and each other during an era in which women were still tethered to silence.

The documentarian Roger Ross Williams usually establishes trust by getting a meal with his subjects before shooting. In the case of “The Super Models,” he and co-director Larissa Bills were meeting four legends.
Cindy Crawford hosted the pair at her Malibu home; Christy Turlington took them to a bookstore in Manhattan; Naomi Campbell Zoomed them from her closet. In early 2020, Crawford, Turlington, Campbell and Linda Evangelista came to Imagine Entertainment with the notion of executive producing a documentary about their reign over fashion in the 1980s and ’90s. Williams, an Oscar winner for 2009’s “Music by Prudence,” and Bills were brought in to tell their collective story of living as icons — and finding themselves as women.
And that’s how Williams ended up telling Evangelista about the House of Evangelista. On FX’s “Pose,” a group of drag ballroom performers borrow her name, and her hauteur. “I made this whole speech,...

It’s only delightful to witness the attention Linda Evangelista receives when she arrives at any event these days: The legendary supermodel and breast cancer survivor has been enjoying a public comeback that began to roll out slowly when she appeared on the cover of British Vogue in 2022, but ramped up to klieg light level when she was joined by Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington and Naomi Campbell on the September 2023 cover of American Vogue. What does Evangelista think about this sudden burst of attention and adulation? “That I should’ve left the house sooner!” she exclaimed with a laugh to The Hollywood Reporter at Tuesday night’s Kering’s Second Annual Caring for Women Dinner at The Pool in New York City.
The annual fundraiser, produced by the Kering Group to benefit a trio of women-focused causes, was more than enough reason to venture out, she added. “I have felt so much love this week,...

Evangelista previously shared that her prognosis was “good.”

Supermodels Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista, and Christy Turlington dominated the pop culture space in the ’90s, most notably in George Michael’s music video “Freedom! ’90.”
Although the iconic models were equally featured in the video, Campbell said she was the “leader” of the group. “George pitched it to me in L.A. and his exact words were, ‘You’re the leader of the gang and unless you say yes, the rest of the girls won’t,'” she recalled to Daily Mail in 2022.
Leader or not, Crawford said Michael insisted that all of the models appear in the video. “He wants you five, and it has to be all of you five,” she shared.

Linda Evangelista shared that she has been privately battling breast cancer for the past five years. The Nineties supermodel opened up about her experience for the first time during an interview published Tuesday with the Wall Street Journal.
Evangelista said that she was diagnosed with breast cancer in December 2018 after it was detected in her annual mammogram. “The margins were not good, and due to other health factors, without hesitation, because I wanted to put everything behind me and not to have to deal with this, I opted for a bilateral mastectomy.

Celebrated as one of the most accomplished models of all time, Linda Evangelista has been in the modeling industry for many decades and still retains relevance. She is one model who remained faithful to her craft without diversifying into other career paths like her counterparts. Before she put her career on hold in 1998, Evangelista was among the most famous and influential women in the world. Three years afterward, she bounced back to uphold the reputation. While she has called time on her career before, followed by a seamless comeback, Linda Evangelista’s latest disappearance from the public eye caught major...

AMC brought Fear the Walking Dead and the new The Walking Dead spinoff The Walking Dead: Dead City to the 2023 WonderCon held March 24-26 in Anaheim, CA. While Dead City made its WonderCon debut, this year’s panel for Fear the Walking Dead marks its final time appearing at what’s referred to as the smaller, more low-key version of the massive San Diego Comic-Con.
Series stars Kim Dickens, Jenna Elfman, and Christine Evangelista joined co-showrunner Ian Goldberg and executive producer Michael Satrazemis for the show’s final season panel. AMC used the WonderCon panel to debut the season eight trailer, and the network also released a new poster and photos online. And during the panel, Goldberg confirmed season eight includes a seven-year time jump.

Hold onto your butts: the trailer for "65" has dropped, and it's a dinos-vs-humans battle royale — except this time, man has high-tech weaponry. The latest feature from "A Quiet Place" co-writers Scott Beck and Bryan Woods sees double Oscar-nominee Adam Driver as intrepid hero Mills, a pilot stranded on a strange planet with some familiar flora and fauna. Bonus: it has the added support of "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness" director Sam Raimi as producer. Check it out here:
The trailer synopsis has the details:
"After a catastrophic crash on an unknown planet, pilot Mills quickly discovers he's stranded on Earth. .. 65 million years ago. Now, with only one chance at rescue, Mills and the only other survivor, Koa, must make their way across an unknown terrain riddled with dangerous prehistoric creatures in an epic fight to survive."

The full trailer for Florian Zeller's follow-up to "The Father" is here, and "The Son" looks about as emotionally devastating as we've come to expect from the playwright and novelist turned filmmaker. The second adaptation in a trio of thematically (but not narratively) connected plays about family, "The Son" focuses on the painful, numbing vacuum of clinical depression whereas Zeller's previous film centered on the fragmented terror of dementia. It screened at festivals earlier this year, playing at Venice and Toronto in the same week, and proved divisive among critics who saw it.
The new trailer clarifies the plot that was only vaguely presented by the film's first teaser. The movie follows a teen boy, Nicholas (Zen McGrath), as he becomes overcome with depression that impacts his school and home life. But as the title's perspective suggests, it seems to be more firmly placed in the point of view of his father,...

On October 7, Disney+ brought another character from the Marvel Universe to the screen with “Warewolf by Night.” The latest MCU story to emerge on the streaming platform stars BAFTA nominee Gael Garcia Bernal in the titular role and was directed by Oscar-winning composer Michael Giacchino. The action-packed special was instantly a hit with critics, holding a 92 freshness rating at Rotten Tomatoes as of this writing.
The critical consensus reads, “A spooky yarn told with taut economy, ‘Werewolf by Night’ is a standout Marvel entry that proves Michael Giacchino as atmospheric and skilled a director as he is a composer.”

Mila Kunis has made a surprise appearance on the first episode of Bling Empire’s third season.
Bling Empire is a reality show that follows “LA’s wildly wealthy Asian and Asian American fun seekers as they go all out with fabulous parties, glamour and drama”.
As the third season arrived on the streaming service, fans were shocked by an unannounced appearance from Kunis in the first episode.
In the scene, stars Gabriel and Christine Chiu are out at a restaurant discussing potential surrogate options when the 39-year-old actor appears.
Judging by the way she comes over to greet them, Kunis seems to be fairly well-acquainted with the Chius.
“I haven’t seen you in so long,” says Chiu before the Hollywood star replies: “The neighbourhood misses you.”
The group then discusses the possibility of Kunis having more children to which she quickly replies: “No we’re done! We had two,...

Linda Evangelista says she stopped eating at one point while dealing with her paradoxical adipose hyperplasia following a CoolSculpting procedure that left several areas of her face and body with protruding fatty tissue.
The legendary model, who spoke out publicly for the first time in September 2021 about how the rare post-procedure complication had impacted her mental health and ability to work, recently shared more details about her experience with the cosmetic treatment with British Vogue for its September cover story.
While describing the ordeal, for which she filed and has since settled a lawsuit with CoolSculpting company Zeltiq, the model revealed that beyond attempting to correct what happened with liposuction, she at one point even reduced her diet to water in hopes she could get rid of the hard, fatty lumps.

Canadian fashion model Linda Evangelista fell victim to a predatory modelling agency when she was a teenager. Offered a modelling contract for the summer by a Japanese agency when she was just 16, the 57-year-old supermodel quickly left when they tried to force her into taking nude pictures, reports aceshowbiz.com.
“I arrived, and there wasn’t anyone to collect me. I was so lost and obviously I didn’t have a cell phone. I went to the agency and it was all, ‘take your clothes off, we need your measurements,’ but they already had my measurements,” Evangelista told the September issue of British Vogue.
“They wanted me naked and it wasn’t a ‘would you do nudes’ conversation, it was a ‘you will do nudes.’ I left and called my mother and she said, ‘Get out now and get to the embassy’. So that’s what I did, and they got me home.

Fans may know her as Elektra Abundance-Evangelista, the fierce house mom from beloved series "Pose" with all the confidence in the world and the Naomi Campbell-esque looks to go with it. But while she's just as iconic in real life, Dominique Jackson's wisdom goes far beyond her glamorous persona.
