Jackson Young was born in Dallas, TX. He started off making home videos on his camcorder. He began taking this craft seriously when he attended the University of North Texas RTVF program. He learned to write and act by studying theatre as a minor. His senior year he made the film Good Morning which garnered praise. With the success of that short film and set experience, he was accepted into the American Film Institute where he received his MFA in Directing. While attending AFI he made his thesis film Trouble Man, in which he became a recipient of the Directors Guild of America award for his storytelling ability. From there he has continued to explore his career directing shorts, docs, reality, and feature films.
