She also said, she gave it her all in every performance, and revealed what her favorite performance was, which was "Momma Knows Best," because her entire family was there to see her,and she could just sing her heart out without having to worry about notes, what people think, and things of that nature.

Hey hey, ho ho, Carlito Olivero's got to go – unfortunately not this week, though. Yes, the perpetually-pitchy Latin singer somehow managed to hang on yet again as Rion Paige and Ellona Santiago got cut from the competition. But it wasn't for the right reasons.

When he again had to sing for survival after landing at the bottom, Carlito labeled himself "the underdog" who "came from nothing." And Simon Cowell jumped on the bandwagon, saying, "You've admitted publicly that you had a tough upbringing...

And then there were four! The X Factor sadly said goodbye to two more acts on the Dec. 5 episode of the Fox hit competition show, making this a less-than-happy episode. Following an exciting performance by Emblem3 and Little Mix, this season’s final four acts were officially revealed.
‘The X Factor’: Ellona Santiago & Rion Paige Eliminated
Yes, you read that right. After a nail-biting sing-off, the two acts American chose to send home tonight were Ellona Santiago and Rion Paige. We’re far in enough into the season that every act has developed its own intense fan base, so both of these eliminations were actually pretty painful.

X Factor 2013 eliminated Ellona Santiago & Rion Paige tonight,December 5th. Tonight's elimination show, kicked off with a brief recap of the performances from last night. Shortly after that, they got straight down to business as host, Mario Lopez, revealed that Ellona Santiago got the lowest amount of votes last night, and was the first one to get sent home. The crowd was devastated as usual. After a break, Emblem 3 returned to the X Factor stage to perform their new song, titled, “Just for One Day.” From there, Mario revealed that Restless Road, Alex and Sierra, and Jeff Gutt were all safe this week, which left Rion Paige and Carlito Olivero as the bottom 2 contestants, so they would have to sing a final song for the judge's save. Next, "Little Mix" from X Factor UK , hit the stage to perform "Move." After another break, Rion sang Miranda Lambert’s “The House That Built Me” song.

Another week, another brutal double elimination on "The X Factor." With six very talented acts left, it was inevitable that someone surprising would wind up on the bottom. Who made it to the semifinals? Find out which acts from the Top 6 moved on to the next round below.
First up, the hardest cut: the bottom vote-getter. Proving the oft-heard statement that no one is safe, surprisingly it's a shocked Ellona Santiago who gets the swift boot. She had a solid night performing, but since she didn't stand out like Alex and Sierra and she didn't screw up (well, no one really screwed up -- but she didn't really get any bad feedback), the audience just assumed she'd be safe. She wasn't.
The three solidly safe acts were Restless Road, Alex and Sierra, and Jeff Gutt, leaving Rion Paige and Carlito Olivero to sing for their lives. In the end, Rion's...

Anyone have a hat? Because you may as well put all the names of the remaining X Factor contestants in one and pick a winner at random. That's how hard it's becoming to predict who will stay and who will go – mainly because everyone left is embarrassingly bad. Well, except for Alex and Sierra, who easily pulled ahead of the pack on Wednesday night. Can't the show just hand them the win and call it a season?

It’s easy to make fun of The X Factor, what with Demi Lovato’s crocodile tears (and atrocious, “more prouder” grammar), Simon Cowell’s bloated sense of self-importance and especially future Emmy nominee for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series Paulina Rubio’s patented brand of “does this chica have a concussion?” English. (Tonight’s “oily nose”/”you are you!” critique of Carlito Olivero was beautifully absurd, but still couldn’t top last week’s inability to tell her hot Latino contestant apart from wide-eyed 15-year-old Josh Levi.)

After last week's shocking elimination, the Top 6 for the "X Factor" know that anyone can go home in any given week, so they gotta bring it. The theme this week is diva hits for song no. 1 and unplugged for song no. 2.
1. Restless Road, "Red" and "Wake Me Up"
Well, this starts out pretty well, though there aren't a lot of discernible harmonies. However, the tall one really needs help with his stage presence -- he seriously just wanders and bops around out there. Also, his solo on this song was terrible. Really bad. It's not enough that he can sing low, girls who are screaming like banshees. He needs to be on key, too. Oof.
Their second song is miles better -- there are harmonies, the solos are pretty strong. I mean, we all know this group is going to win it all and then fade into oblivion, right? They're...

The theme for this Thanksgiving Eve on "The X Factor" is Big Band Night. Well, that's current. I mean, don't get me wrong -- I love big band music, it's one of my favorite genres. But I'm pretty certain we're in for quite the trainwreck with some of these performers. Hope they prove me wrong.
1. Rion Paige, "Swingin'," LeAnn Rimes
Well, if they aren't making them perform actual "big band" music, just in front of a big band, that's very different than what I was envisioning. That might work out for most of them.
Anyway, vocally, this isn't showing off Paige's voice as much as the slower songs, but that's not really what this is about. This is designed to show off her personality and she's certainly handling the hard lyrics really well.
I had started wondering if they were ever going to get her a headset mic so she...

Let’s be honest: Your mentors are constantly trying to upstage you with superfluous (sometimes ¡interpretive!) dancers. The apocalyptic on-stage lighting situation is probably only manageable with the use of alcohol, Prozac, intensive psychotherapy or all of the above. From there, they showed recap footage from last night's performances, and then they got right down to business, revealing that the "Sweet Suspense" group act was the first one to get chopped off, tonight. So, they said their goodbyes and that was it. Simon was shocked that they bit the dust, claiming they did a real good job last night. Next, mega starlet, Selena Gomez, hit the stage to perform her new single, “Slow Down,” and it was really hyped up. She also wore a sexy as hell outfit. After a break, host ,Mario Lopez, revealed that Carlito Olivero,Josh Levi, Rion Paige, Jeff Gutt, Restless Road, Tim Olstad, Ellona Santiago, Lillie McCloud, and Alex and Sierra were all safe, tonight. There were some surprising results on "The X Factor" Thursday night (Nov. 14,) leaving both the audience and the judges stunned.
The first act eliminated (the one in the bottom) was Simon's girl group Sweet Suspense, which honestly is not a huge surprise. They were one of the weakest performances last night.
However, we then fully expected the sing-off to be between Ellona Santiago and Carlito Olivera, but in a shocking turn of events, it was between Rachel Potter and Khaya Cohen. Their sing-off was decent, but we gave the edge to Khaya -- both last night and tonight.
And the judges reflected that. Naturally, Kelly Rowland chose to keep Rachel because she's her mentor, but the other three chose to keep Khaya. It's a shame, but Rachel didn't pick a great song last night.
What did you think about the Top 12 results, "X Factor" fans?...

Chug, chug, chug. The X Factor keeps lurching along despite an embarrassing voting glitch and record-low ratings. And it's doubtful its lackluster, borderline unwatchable Eighties night will help matters.
After last week's clusterfuck that saw all of America's votes thrown out on the very first night viewers had their say, it's hard to feel invested. And since the show had to scrap last week's elimination in favor of a do-over, they unceremoniously tossed Boys category member Carlos Guevara at the beginning of this week's show. (What gives with not bringing...

‘The X Factor’: Top 12 Perform ’80s Hits
Tonight’s show started on a sad note, when Carlos Guevara got voted off! Last week, he performed “What’s Going On,” and it left the judges asking themselves that very same question. “I thought it was cool for your voice,” Kelly Rowland told him, “but you could have done better.” That was our signal that he would be the first to go!

The X Factor was all about big hair and even bigger results Wednesday night.
Carlos Guevara was the first Top 13 contestant to be eliminated as the show kicked off by announcing results after last week's technical glitch nullified the voting.
Then it was back to the '80s, as the contestants took on songs from the era of Madonna's fingerless-gloved heyday.
Lillie McCloud, 54, who kicked off the night with Chaka Khan's "Ain't Nobody," impressed judges by making the song current and prompted Simon Cowell to ask, "You're a naughty little thing, aren't you?"
Carlito Olivero, 24, sang "Rhythm Is Gonna Get You,...

A spectacle like "The X Factor" -- 12 acts performing on live TV with different backup dancers, backup singers, and intricate stage setups in just two hours -- requires a lot of effort to pull together. While the final product that aired on Fox might've looked seamless, there's plenty of work going on behind the scenes that you never see. Here are five things Zap2it observed in the "X Factor" studio that you never caught at home.
1. The Warm-Up Guy. Most live television shows employ a warm-up comedian to tell jokes and get the crowd's energy up before the cameras roll, but "The X Factor" guy takes a different approach and recruits audience volunteers to sing a cappella. It's a recipe for disaster, but luckily three out of four people chosen on Top 12 night were decent singers. The fourth, however, was like a live-action version of a cringeworthy joke audition:...

Informal poll time, X Factor watchers!
The most confounding portion of tonight’s Top 12 performance telecast was:
A. Paulina Rubio’s continued employment in the face of her enthusiastic incompetence
B. Paulina’s insistence on using the word “America” while introducing her acts (Gurrl, it’ll take more than that to win us over, I’m afraid)
C. The screaming of the lambs audience
D. Mario Lopez’s obscene attempt to recreate a classic Michael Jackson dance move
E. Writhing ladies leading into various ad breaks (I didn’t hallucinate that, did I?)
F. The inclusion of an interpretive dance...

When we join "The X Factor," host Mario Lopez informs us that it's '80s night -- but he emphasizes hits from the nineteen-eighties, which really makes us wonder if he thinks anybody is confused it might be the eighteen-eighties.
Meanwhile, the female judges are decked out in their best '80s attire, which is awesome. Scroogey old Simon, however, cannot be bothered to put a suit jacket on over his plain white t-shirt and rock a Crockett and/or Tubbs look. For shame, Cowell.
However, we must eliminate someone first. You know, we hope they told the act who was eliminated last week when it actually happened so that he or she didn't have to rehearse all this week like normal. That just seems mean.
Anyway, Carlos Guevara is eliminated and for once, America got it exactly right. He had a couple very rough nights, he shouldn't have advanced out of the four-chair challenge.

Oh, X Factor, you're just the gift that keeps on giving, aren't you? But not in the winning scratch-ticket kind of way. It's more like getting a pink bunny suit and fruitcake. And we're almost waiting for Simon Cowell to pop out of the cake and tell us it's all one big elaborate joke.
Instead, we got the news that all of Wednesday night's votes – every single one – were thrown out due to a technical glitch that happened because incorrect phone numbers were given out. So, there was no elimination...

Due to a voting glitch, the "X Factor" Top 13 are at it again, performing their results show "save me" songs in what turns out to be a nicely-paced, filler-free hour of TV. Wish every week went this quickly.
Those who were able to turn in a second good performance this week include Josh Levi, Jeff Gutt and Lillie McCloud. They all rocked it last night and rocked it again tonight.
The acts who showed marked improvement include Rachel Potter, Ellona Santiago, Alex & Sierra, Khaya Cohen, Carlito Olivero and Rion Paige. A lot of those improvements had to do with song choice. Motown was not kind to them, but tonight they all were pretty solid.
Carlos Guevara continues to be the weakest singer there and did not do very well either night, but if he's popular with the young voters, then Tim Olstad and Sweet Suspense could be in some trouble.

Even when The X Factor tries, it fails.
After last week's questionable eliminations, the judges apparently sensed something was wrong and wanted to fix it. So they decided to bring back a "wild card" contestant – someone the judges think deserves a second chance after getting kicked off.

For a second, there was a glimmer of hope that they'd pick fan favorite Danie Geimer, the Girls team member who so clearly didn't deserve to go home. But nope. Why do something that actually makes sense?...

Like that expensive cheese in your fridge that unexpectedly presents with a patch of furry blue mold, The X Factor is the reality competition that asks the eternal question: To toss the whole package into the trash compactor with a satisfying whirr — or to press the Ctrl+Scrape+Eat button.
Tonight’s Season 3 Top 13 performance night spent two hours framing said debate: There was the awfulness we’ve come to expect from Fox’s “other” singing competition: Mario Lopez’s automatonic hosting style; the overblown production — including a premature Gospel chorus! — for selected “chosen” contestants; seizure-inducing lighting; Paulina Rubio’s comic ineptitude.

Josh proved he’s not just a wildcard — he’s a superstar in the making! Did you love his performance as much as we did?
Proving oldies never go out of style, The X Factor‘s final 13 contestants — last week’s final 12, plus one surprise wild-card return — took on some of Motown’s most beloved classics on the competition show’s Nov. 6 episode. Some contestants, like Josh Levi, shone bright. Sadly, others fell flat, basically confirming their spot on tomorrow night’s chopping block. The power is in your hands, America. After the judges on The X Factor have narrowed down the field to the Top 12 acts, three in each category, they will now go head-to-head to your votes. It should be interesting to see if it matches up with those viewer polls from last week, the ones that showed performers like Ellona Santiago, Sweet Suspense and Rachel Potter on top while Lillie McCloud was in the single digits.

We’re down to the final 12 contestants on ‘The X Factor’ — and since we’ve made it this far with these amazing singers, it’s time to learn more about them, don’t you think?
The competition on the X Factor was narrowed down to 12 performers on Oct. 29 during the first live show of the season. It was seriously heated — so it’s time to take a closer look at the contestants who will be performing live again next week!

Here are the Top 12 contestants who will be performing during another live show on Nov. 6!
Ellona Santiago, 17, was born in the Philippines and is from California. She absolutely brought her A game to her last performance, giving pitch-perfect rendition of “Til The World Ends.” Demi Lovato even called her a “true diva!”

Man, oh man, The X Factor is one hot mess of a show. But that's what makes it charming, right?

On a purely surface level — which is most likely Simon Cowell’s ideal criteria for critique — The X Factor got plenty of things right with Tuesday night’s Top 16 performance show.
For starters, can I get a “huzzah” for the total absence of hokey backstories (or any backstories whatsoever)? And then, of course, we have to applaud the dramatic cutback in gruesome closeups of weeping child singers. ‘The X Factor’ contestants finally performed live tonight, and things got totally heated when the judges each eliminated someone from their group. Did you agree with their choices, HollywoodLifers?
It’s the moment all X Factor fans have been waiting for! Things are always spicier when the show is live and anything can happen — especially since the audience helped influence the judge’s decisions via social media!
Top 12 ‘X Factor’ Contestants Perform Live For First Time
Here are the top 12 out of 16 contestants advancing on to the next round:
Ellona Santiago, 17, must have thought she was performing at a paying gig at Caesar’s Palace instead of a TV show, because Wow! She absolutely brought her A game tonight, from her perfect and sexy dance moves that accompanied a pitch-perfect rendition of “Til The World Ends.” She totally entertained the crowd and blew the judges away, making it a tough act to follow.

‘The X Factor’ continued on tonight with more of the “Four Chair Challenge” — and the competition is really heating up as more contestants are being given the boot! Did you agree with the judge’s choices? Let us know!
The “Four Chair Challenge” is very similar to musical chairs — except way more excruciating and emotional. It pained us every time someone got kicked out of their seat, but there are now officially four gals going to the live shows in Demi Lovato‘s Girls group! Do you agree with the choices, HollywoodLifers?
Who Advanced On The ‘X Factor?’
The competition was stiff in the Girls group, consisting of ladies who can mostly belt it out!
Khaya Cohen, 15, sang “Locked Out Of Heaven,” — and seriously, what is it with contestants slowing down songs lately? Unless it’s a perfect arrangement with the right tone, it’s a risky bet — but she made it!

You could call Simon Cowell cruel for introducing the “Four-Chair Challenge” to Season 3 of The X Factor, and you wouldn’t be wrong. Like a cat who toys with semi-conscious chipmunks on his owner’s doorstep, the British crankypants spent an hour tonight slowly snuffing out the hopes and dreams of more than half of the 10 teenage girls left in the competition.
Then again, not all chipmunks are meant to sing — certainly not the one in a crayon-red wig whose screeching rendition of the disco classic “Blame It on the Boogie” made Kelly Rowland’s eyes pop comically — like Spongebob...

And narrow they did! Simon Cowell and the gang hand-picked 10 contestants to be in each of the show’s four categories, but as we saw, making those decisions was no easy task.
