Mark Allen Johnson is a director, producer and journalist --
He began his career as journalist and photographer, working with a diverse list of clients including TIME, Newsweek, The New York Times, Vanity Fair, Rolling Stone, Maxim, and The Economist, among many others.
His prevailing perspective is one that sees a modern world that persecutes and prosecutes have nots for living by any means necessary. A world that sets hard-and-fast rules and laws that are meant to govern and control individuals - but which, in reality, pushes people to act beyond the boundaries of legality and mainstream social acceptability.
It's these shades of grey - born out of people's will to survive - that interest him the most.
For the past decade, Johnson has applied his Gonzo journalism skill sets to the worlds of TV and film production, using unorthodox methods and a global network of contacts. Johnson specializes in gaining all access & making the impossible possible - penetrating deep into subcultures, extreme environments and hazardous locations.
Johnson has worked hand-in-hand with domestic and international police and military special forces and negotiated close-up access to prisons, organized crime syndicates, gangs and top government officials. He has produced and directed projects in Central and South America including narco battlefields, Mexico, SE Asia, the Middle East, the South Pacific, Europe, numerous African countries and conflict zones, and has been embedded in fully engaged combat missions with U.S. troops in Iraq.
