Say Jay Hynes
- Actress
Say Jay Hynes is a Canadian-American actor.
She grew up in Seattle as the oldest of six children. Her performing career began early thanks to her music teacher mother, who started her on violin and piano at age 3. Her novelist father is the one who inspired her love of storytelling by reading classical and fantasy books to her throughout childhood. If Say Jay wasn't practicing instruments, doing school work, or climbing trees, she could be found curled up with a novel imaging herself playing the characters in the stories.
Say Jay's acting career began in elementary school as the lead of the first play she ever auditioned for. During the performance, her male counterpart got stage fright and left her tied to imaginary train tracks, screaming in terror at the oncoming invisible train, for 10 minutes until he finally got the nerve to come on stage and say his line. She has been chasing the rapture of that prolonged imaginary terror ever since.
Throughout her teenage and college years, she continued to act in theater and independent film productions, which led her to Orlando to become a character and show performer for Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, and Sea World.
She graduated from The College of Idaho, where she studied music, acting, and psychology. Say Jay moved to Los Angeles to pursue performing as a full-time occupation. Since then, she has regularly performed on screen, in theater productions, and gigged with a variety of musicians, magicians, comedians, and circus freaks. Some of her favourite performance experiences have been at her other Los Angeles home, The Magic Castle. While living in LA, she has also cultivated performance skills in vaudeville acts, stunts, dance, improv, and comedy.
While she is happy to be bringing stories to life for audiences in any capacity, acting holds the biggest piece of her heart.
Outside of her career, Say Jay loves cheese, road-tripping in foreign countries, all things nerd culture, glitter, and rainbows.
