Paris- and Berlin-based sales house Salaud Morisset has picked up international sales duties on Palestinian-Danish director Mahdi Fleifel’s “To a Land Unknown,” which is set to world premiere next month in Directors’ Fortnight at Cannes. The exclusive first-look image was released Tuesday.
Eurozoom just signed on to release the film in French theaters.
“To a Land Unknown” tells the story of the desperate attempts of two Palestinian cousins stranded in Athens to find a way to reach Germany. Chatila and Reda are saving to pay for fake passports to get out of Athens. The foundation of German director Wim Wenders has struck a deal with sales agent Salaud Morisset to handle theatrical, festival and non-commercial distribution rights for his catalog of 25 films for all unsold territories worldwide.
Wenders’ latest film, “Perfect Days,” is nominated for the international Oscar.
The deal with Wim Wenders Stiftung covers 17 feature films, four feature documentaries and seven short films, including “Kings of the Road” (1976), “The American Friend” (1977), “Paris, Texas” (1984), “Wings of Desire” (1987) and “Buena Vista Social Club” (1999).
Commercial rights to the Wenders catalog are handled by Hanway Films, a lifetime partner of Wenders and the foundation.

Oscar Isaac and Elvira Lind’s first film under Mad Gene Banner, the Academy Award-shortlisted short film “The Letter Room,” has set a North American premiere with First Look Media’s streaming service Topic worldwide distribution to be led by Salaud Morisset.
