Actress Emmy Rossum ("Shameless") poses for "Shape" magazine, photographed by David Slijper :
Rossum, noted as a television director and singer-songwriter is best known for her portrayal of 'Fiona Gallagher' in the TV series "Shameless".
Her breakout role was in Mystic River (2003), followed by the science-fiction feature "The Day After Tomorrow" (2004), receiving critical acclaim for her performance as 'Christine Daaé' in "The Phantom of the Opera" (2004).
"There's something safe about playing a character," said Rossum, "but then it's like, 'Who am I underneath it all?'
"I've been in the studio experimenting...trying out different producers, styles, sounds. With music, as opposed to acting, you are not playing a character. You are showing people who you are. I really want to have my spirit in it.
"But it's the best feeling when you wake up and it's warm and cozy, and you don't have to go to work.

If you’ve ever watched Shameless, you’re well aware that Emmy Rossum‘s character Fiona Gallagher has no problem going makeup free. But truth be told, her bare-faced looks do in fact include one important product: Burt’s Bees tinted lip balms, which are one of the only products the star wears while playing the character. And now, Rossum is taking her love for the brand one step further, as she’s the face of Burt’s Bees Beauty’s new “I am not synthetic” campaign, as the brand launch an entire new range of cosmetics.

This weekend at the Vulture Festival in New York City, Emmy Rossum and William H. Macy spoke out about Rossum’s historic salary negotiations of her “Shameless” contract with Showtime. “I wanted to keep doing it, but I just wanted it to feel right,” said the actress.
Rossum plays Fiona Gallagher, daughter to Macy’s eccentric alcoholic deadbeat dad, Frank. Fiona anchors the entire Gallagher brood — was well as the series. But up until last year, she was getting paid much less than Macy, despite having more screen time. After seven seasons of receiving less money than her male co-star, Rossum demanded more than equal salary — she wanted to make more than Macy. (Think of it as reparations for all those years where she made less). After a standstill, Showtime and producers Warner Bros. Television relented, and season 8 began shooting this month.

Last week it was reported that Emmy Rossum was requesting more than equal pay to continue on “Shameless,” wanting an added bonus for all her years on the Showtime series. As for her TV dad William H. Macy’s thoughts on the matter, he told TMZ that he thinks it’s “about f*cking time” that she gets paid equally. In fact, the actor not only thinks that his TV daughter should get what she deserves but also supports equal pay for all women.
