Richard Imon
Richard Imon is a Japanese American educator originally from Gardena,
California. His father's (Francis Masao Imon) family on his
mother's side is originally from Yokohama, Japan and his great
grandfather from Ehime Prefecture on the Island of Shikoku. Imon's
mother's side (Mary Hiroko Handa) is from the Osaka region of Japan
from the town of Ozaki-Cho. Imon graduated from California State
University, Fullerton with both undergraduate and graduate degrees in
history. During his studies at the University, he was accepted in into
the halls of The Golden Key International Honor Society and Phi Alpha
Theta, Theta Pi Chapter for outstanding scholarship in his field. Imon
was honored as a guest on Orange County Educational Television's: "The
Human Journey" where he and Dr. Craig Ihara discussed the origins of
Christianity in Japan.After graduating from CSUF, Imon began a teaching
career which led him to Japan where he further researched his interests
in Japanese history. Imon currently resides in the State of Nevada
where he teaches students in Special Education and lectures at Regis
University where he has been an Affiliate Faculty Member for over 11
years. The courses he teaches at Regis include US History, Western
Civilization and Myths, Symbols, and Cultures, a course which uses the
teachings of Joseph Campbell on understanding the human psyche and
traditions of mankind in relationship to the World we live in. It was
this course in which Mr. William Shatner became interested in and asked
Imon to be a guest on his television documentary "Get A Life".
