If you're like us, the broadcast shows are not hitting their marks.
They're beyond formulaic (everyone's out to tear down Firehouse 51 on Chicago Fire? Give us a break already) and have lost their pizazz.
Watching TV barely cracks our faces with a smile.
But the streamer that is part of our return to classic TV (Dark Shadows? Check! Family? Check! Columbo? Check!), Tubi, has a new original series on the way starring Gilmore Girls and Parenthood star Lauren Graham.
Neither show is on Tubi, so why not create one to bring the talented actress into their world?
That's what Tubi is doing as the Fox Corporation's ad-supported VOD service announced today that it has greenlit the new original comedy series The Z Suite starring Graham.
Written by Katie O'Brien, who also serves as showrunner, the series is executive produced by Lance Samuels, Samantha Levine, and Daniel Iron of Blue Ice Pictures...

Lauren Graham Stars In ‘The Z-Suite’ Comedy Ordered By Tubi As Its First In-House Live-Action Series
Exclusive: Fox Corporation’s Tubi has greenlighted The Z-Suite, a comedy series starring and executive produced by Lauren Graham. The multi-generational workplace comedy, from writer, executive producer and showrunner Katie O’Brien, is AVOD service’s first homegrown live-action original series.
The Z-Suite is set at a boutique New York ad agency where generational divides see the established C-Suite and rising Gen Z employees collide. After a company decision spirals out of control, the agency’s reigning executives are pushed out and the Z-Suite employees are suddenly put in charge, ultimately testing both generations’ skills and patience.
Graham plays Monica Frazier, an advertising agency mogul who is fired as CEO and finds herself clawing her way back into the company she helped build.

As a member of WGA and SAG-AFTRA, actor, writer and producer Katie O’Brien (TV Land’s Teachers, Disney+’s The Santa Clauses) is double striking. But she’s found a way to fill her time while also supporting fellow picketers.
O’Brien is selling custom hats (with a suggested donation of $25 a hat) with catchy slogans — “It’s Giving Corporate Greed” and “ChatGPT Wrote Thus” — through her Instagram account (@katieclaireobrien).
O’Brien had already been collaborating with Leah Bubeck of Rollyhog Embroidery on merch for The Buzz, an all-female networking group that she co-created, so when the strike happened, she pivoted with Bubeck to make custom hats in an effort that has double meaning.
“It’s been a great way to exercise creativity with writing and also help out,” O’Brien tells THR. She’s sold 120 hats and raised $3,500 through suggested donations, money that has been dispersed to the picket...

Exclusive: Creators Torrey Speer, Nora McInerny and Katie O’Brien have signed with Curate for management.
Speer received WGA and PGA award nominations this year for her work on Apple TV’s The Morning Show, where she served as supervising producer on the first two seasons of the Jennifer Aniston/Reese Witherspoon drama series. Speer broke into television writing as an assistant in the writers rooms for NBC’s Friday Night Lights and Parenthood before going on to write for three seasons of A&e’s Bates Motel starring Vera Farmiga. She later wrote for Youtube’s original drama series Impulse directed by Doug Liman.
McInerny’s writing career began in 2014 when the obituary she wrote with her husband Aaron went viral, revealing his true identity as Spider-Man and his cause of death as a radioactive spider bite that led to his demise from brain cancer. Since then, she has published multiple novels including her memoir,...

“Los Espookys” co-creator Julio Torres has signed a two-year first-look deal with HBO and HBO Max.
Torres has two new projects already in development under the pact, “Little Films” (working title) and “Lucky,” the former of which he’s set to star in and is produced by Emma Stone.
In “Little Films,” which has a production commitment at HBO, the former “Saturday Night Live” writer stars as himself. The potential show follows this version of Torres as he tells the tale of when he lost a golden oyster. The people he encounters as he searches for it and the musings he has along the way become points of departure for little films, as Julio navigates weaving in and out of these introspective, often eerie comedic stories.
Torres created the project and executive produces alongside Dave McCary (who also directs) and Stone for Fruit Tree, Alex Bach and Daniel Powell for Irony Point,...
