Dexter Morgan may be dead and buried, but his story is far from over.
Paramount+ With Showtime announced Thursday that Dexter: Original Sin — a prequel to the hit original series — had found its cast.
Patrick Gibson has secured the coveted role of young Dexter Morgan.
Rounding out the cast is Christian Bale (Mr. Robot) as Harry Morgan, Dexter’s adoptive father and homicide detective, while Molly Brown (Senior Year) will play Debra Morgan, Dexter’s younger sister.
The highly-anticipated prequel picks up 15 years before Dexter Season 1, with viewers witnessing “America’s favorite serial killer…in training,” according to the press release.
Per the logline, Dexter: Original Sin is set in 1991 Miami and follows “Dexter (Gibson) as he transitions from student to avenging serial killer.”
Dexter’s origins will be explored
“When his bloodthirsty urges can’t be ignored any longer, Dexter must learn to channel his inner darkness.”

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Poker Face, Season 1, Episode 7, “The Future of the Sport.”] You may recognize Jack Alcott when his character Randy pops up in the latest episode of Peacock‘s newly-renewed Poker Face, but it’s understandable if it takes a moment or two to place him. That’s because the actor looks and sounds quite different from when he was Harrison Morgan in Showtime‘s Dexter: New Blood. This time around, he’s playing a go-kart track employee who is besties with Charles Melton‘s Davis McDowell, an up-and-coming racer who has a beef with seasoned vet Keith Owens (Tim Blake Nelson). The feuding racers’ conflict ultimately leads to devastating consequences when Keith’s daughter Katy (Jasmine Aiyana Garvin) winds up severely injured after Davis allows her to drive his car, which was tampered with by Keith. The only catch is, Davis knew the vehicle wasn’t working right and further incapacitated...

“I literally knew nothing about the show,” admits Jack Alcott about landing the role of Harrison Morgan in “Dexter: New Blood.” The original Showtime series starring Michael C. Hall aired from 2006 to 2013, spanning the ages of 10 to 17 for the actor. “I was not old enough to watch it. I knew it was a great show and a lot of people watched it. When the audition came in I was like, oh, this is cool.” Watch the exclusive video interview above.
Throughout the audition process, Alcott was never actually told he would be playing Dexter’s son. “There was a fake name,” he explains. “I was auditioning for ‘Randall,’ who was vaguely described as a likable kid, but he’s got something going on. I was like, ‘Oh, he’s definitely going to be a bad guy, this is so cool.’ Then throughout a series of auditions…I learned this is Dexter’s son.

Spoiler Alert: This interview reveals major storylines from the finale of Showtime’s Dexter: New Blood.
When Clyde Phillips met with Michael C. Hall about returning to the role of Dexter Morgan in what would become Dexter: New Blood, he already knew the serial killer’s life would end.
Hall signed up without hesitation.
Fans of the hit Showtime series Dexter, which ran eight seasons from 2006-2013, rejoined the former Miami Metro blood spatter analyst —now known by the alias Jim Lindsay—and have enthusiastically tuned in to watch his final adventure unfold. And though that journey has now come to an end with his shocking death, the beloved franchise may continue to expand with a little help from his progeny, Harrison Morgan (Jack Alcott).
Phillips spoke with Deadline about whether death was the only conclusion on the table for Dexter, the status of a possible continuation, and what happens...

We’re just about a month away from the November 7 premiere of “Dexter: New Blood” on Showtime, which will reunite fans with their favorite serial killer. Little is known about the plot of Season 9, except for the fact that Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) is now living a secluded life in Iron Lake, New York after faking his death in the 2013 series finale. His sister Debra Morgan (Jennifer Carpenter) will also be a part of the revival, though it’s unclear in what capacity as she died (for real) at the hands of psychopath Oliver Saxon (Darri Ingolfsson) in the final season.
As fans continue to speculate about Carpenter’s mysterious role in “Dexter: New Blood,” let’s take a look at three newly released photos of the former Miami Metro lieutenant.
