In the fashion world, Shatonia Amee is quickly
making a name for herself in one of New York as a stylist and image consultant. First appearing on the scene in early
2005, Shatonia has a list of credits that include
Hearst Digital Media, Christian Cato, Victoria Secret and many more.
Ms. Amee has been sharing her fashion expertise with Hearst's Real
Beauty and readers of Today's Black Woman and
industry publication The Biz for nearly three years. During this time,
she teaches the everyday woman how to bring the catwalk to the sidewalk
as well as how to recreate celebrity looks for less by being the
ultimate shopping guide. But her experience doesn't stop there.
Shatonia has spent the past six years working with the famed backstage
production company, The Ground Crew, under the guidance of former model
and fashion entrepreneur Audrey Smaltz. During this time, she has
worked with major designers including Gucci, Christian Dior, Prada,
Yves Saint Laurent, Oscar de la Renta, Michael Kors, Vera Wang, Donna
Karan, Helmut Lang, Hugo Boss, Malo, Lacoste, Temperley London and
Chado Ralph Rucci. For the past two seasons, Shatonia has worked as the
collection coordinator for Christian Cato for New York's Mercedes Benz
Fashion Week. Shatonia Amee's work has also been seen on both the big
screen (as the costume designer for independent film Butterfly
Rising-written and directed by Actress Tanya Wright of HBO's True
Blood) as well as the silver screen. She has worked backstage with
televised fashion shows including Victoria's Secret (since 2008) where
she's dressed models including Adriana Lima, Heidi Klum, Sessilee
Lopez, Chanel Iman, and Marissa Miller; BET's Rip the Runway (where she
styled Selita Ebanks and her segment for the most recent installment in
February of 2011). She has also worked as a stylist on such programs as
What Not to Wear, Project Runway (All Stars Episode), as well as styled
celebrities including R&B artists Dondria and Ginuwine as well as
Gospel duo Trini-Tee 5:7 for various episodes of 106 & Park. She was
also the costume designer for the fashion short All Dressed up with
Kathryn Hahn (featured on RealBeauty.com). Shatonia has also had the
pleasure of styling singer/actress Naturi Naughton, pop artist Alexis
Jordan, R&B artist Olivia as well as the gospel duo Mary Mary and
Angela Simmons. Shatonia Amee resides in the New York tri-state area.
