[Editor’s Note: The following contains spoilers from the Season 6 finale of “Project Runway All Stars.”]
Even before the latest winner of “Project Runway All Stars” heard the words “You’re in,” he had already made history. Dubbed the Fantastic 5, the show’s group of finalists all happened to be men of color, a first for the show. The Top 5 designers included Edmond Newton, Stanley Hudson, Fabio Costa, Ken Laurence, and winner Anthony Williams.
Williams spoke to IndieWire about what it meant to be part of the Fantastic 5 in such a public platform:
“Not only does that send a message globally about [gay] men of color… and what we could do and what we can accomplish as we stand together, but I think even vocally and within our own individual communities, it shows people that even today, there is strength in numbers,” said Williams. “Everybody can’t go to the march, but I can lead the march wherever I am. And not a march just for men of color,...

“Project Runway All Stars” concludes its sixth season on Thursday, April 5, with a battle between the three final designers: Fabio Costa, Stanley Hudson and Anthony Williams. But are those the best three designers from the whole season? We asked our readers which of the 13 eliminated contestants they would bring back, and more than half of them were split between just two names: Ken Laurence and Amanda Valentine. Scroll down to the bottom of this post for the complete poll results.
Laurence led our poll with 26% of respondents saying he deserves to return to the competition, which is impressive considering that he only just left. He was eliminated in fourth place in the penultimate episode of the season, “History in the Making,” in which he had to design a six-piece collection, then show the judges one signature look, and then compete in a surprise one-hour design challenge, but after jumping through...

After 12 episodes of “Project Runway All Stars” season 6, the show is down to its 3 finalists: Fabio Costa, Stanley Hudson and Anthony Williams. But what about the 13 contestants who came and went along the way? Our readers didn’t see eye-to-eye with the judges about multiple eliminations, so if they had their say we might have ended up with quite a different finale lineup. Which eliminated contestant would you most like to bring back to the show? Scroll down to vote in our poll at the bottom of this post.
The elimination that shocked “Runway” fans the most was arguably Amanda Valentine, who according to our early polling was the front-runner to win the entire season. She went out in 11th place in “Fashion’s New Superheroes,” and an overwhelming majority of our readers thought the judges made the wrong call. Our readers also thought the judges were wrong to oust...

You’d think winning a design challenge on “Project Runway All Stars” would be a good thing, but it might also be the kiss of death in the late episodes of season six. Edmond Newton won episode 10, “Rock Your Face Off,” only to be eliminated the very next week in episode 11, “Nina’s Crushing It.” Will the same fate befall Ken Laurence? He won the “Crushing It” challenge, but now he’s predicted for elimination in episode 12, “History in the Making.”
Laurence gets leading odds of 21/20, which translates to a 48.84% chance of elimination, so really it could go either way. Those odds are based on the combined predictions of “Project Runway” fans we poll every week for their picks in our predictions center. So why would we think the judges would send him home so soon after winning his second challenge of the season (he also won “Perfect Pairings” jointly with Fabio Costa)? Well,...

Edmond Newton finally won his first design challenge on “Project Runway All Stars” season 6 in episode 10, “Rock Your Face Off,” only to be eliminated the very next week in episode 11, “Nina’s Crushing It.” Did he deserve such a cruel twist of fashion fate? Alas, according to our readers, he did: two-thirds of respondents in our poll (67%) thought he deserved to get the boot. Scroll down to the bottom of this post for our complete poll results.
“Nina’s Crushing It” brought out guest judge Nina Garcia, who challenged the designers to create resort-wear looks based on different levels from the “Candy Crush Saga” mobile video game. There were only five contestants left, so the judges critiqued everyone, with three of them getting high scores and two of them — Newton and Anthony Williams — getting low scores.

It was the best of times for Edmond Newton, but then it was the worst of times. He was eliminated in Thursday night’s episode, “Nina’s Crushing It,” just one week after winning the design challenge in “Rock Your Face Off.” Do you think the judges were right to send him home in fifth place, or should he have advanced to the final four? Scroll down to vote in our poll at the bottom of this post.

There have been unusual design inspirations on “Project Runway” before. Just this season on “All Stars” the contestants have distressed their looks with razors and blowtorches, made ball gowns out of literal balls, and even designed a look for cartoon character Betty Boop. So naturally in episode 11, “Nina’s Crushing It,” it was time for the designers to apply their skills to resort wear inspired by the “Candy Crush Saga” mobile video game. So how did Edmond Newton, Stanley Hudson, Fabio Costa, Ken Laurence and Anthony Williams do on the road to the finale on April 5? Find out below in our live blog with all the minute-by-minute updates.

Before episode 10 of “Project Runway All Stars,” “Rock Your Face Off,” Edmond Newton had gotten four low scores in five weeks from the judges, so we thought he was at risk of elimination. It turned out he was just a late bloomer. Not only did he survive the rock-and-roll design challenge, he won it — his first victory of the season, and it was desperately needed. But will he be able to bask in the glow of the judges’ approval for a while? Maybe not. Our users think those fickle judges will push Newton out the door right after showering him with praise. Do you agree?
Every week we poll “Project Runway” fans for their predictions, and as of this writing Newton gets leading odds of 6/5, which translates to a 45.18% chance of elimination. But would the judges really be so quick to send him home after he finally proved his mettle?...

For the first time in “Project Runway” history — including both “All Stars” and the original series — the final five designers are all men: Edmond Newton, Fabio Costa, Anthony Williams, Stanley Hudson and Ken Laurence. That was a statistically improbable outcome given that women outnumbered men nine-to-seven at the start of the season. The only men eliminated were Carlos Casanova and Joshua McKinley. So we asked our readers what they thought of the lopsided victory for the male designers. Did the judges get it right, or did the women deserve better? Scroll down for our complete poll results at the bottom of this post.
Our respondents actually thought the judges did a good job picking the final five. A slight majority (53%) said the remaining designers really are the best of the best. That’s a little surprising given how passionately our readers have disagreed with some eliminations, including Amanda Valentine and Helen Castillo.

Stanley Hudson barely escaped elimination in episode 10 of “Project Runway All Stars,” “Rock Your Face Off,” but despite that rough design challenge he has leaped ahead in our predictions for who will win season six of the design competition series. Going into episode 11 he’s the new front-runner to win. Do you agree that he’ll take the title?
“Rock Your Face Off” pitted the designers against each other head-to-head to create looks for on-stage musical performances. Hudson had won three previous challenges, so he seemed like he had the advantage when putting together a rock design against Edmond Newton, who hadn’t won any. But the judges thought Newton captured rock glam while Hudson’s look was too conservative and underwhelming. Luckily for Hudson, the judges liked Helen Castillo‘s country design even less, so she was eliminated instead.

“Project Runway All Stars” eliminated Helen Castillo in Thursday night’s episode, “Rock Your Face Off.” That leaves five designers in the competition: Fabio Costa, Stanley Hudson, Ken Laurence, Edmond Newton and Anthony Williams. All five of them are men, which is not only unusual but historic. This is the first time one gender has swept the top five in the history of “Runway” — not just the 6 seasons of “All Stars,” but also the 16 seasons of the original series.
It’s all the more surprising in this season of “All Stars” because the women actually started out with the numbers advantage. There were an even 16 contestants at the start of the competition, but 9 were women while only 7 were men. However, over the course of the last 10 episodes all 9 women were eliminated compared to only 2 men who suffered the same fate. Carlos Casanova was booted in the season premiere, and then...

And then there were none. Helen Castillo was eliminated from “Project Runway All Stars” in sixth place in the episode “Rock Your Face Off,” but maybe she could take some solace from the fact that she was the winner among female designers. She was the last woman standing on the show, and with her gone the top five on the show is exclusively male. Do you think the judges made the right decision by eliminating her from the competition? Castillo was done in by a rock music challenge, which is ironic since her personal style suggested this would have been right up her alley. Alas, she didn’t get to choose her genre. Season six of “Project Runway All Stars” is nearing the home stretch. “Rock Your Face Off” challenged the designers to create performance looks fit for a music superstar. Every week we poll “Project Runway All Stars” fans for their predictions for who will be eliminated from the design competition series and this week they can’t agree on who will be sent packing, but they’re pretty sure it will be one of two people: Ken Laurence or Edmond Newton. Both have had mixed results over the course of the previous nine episodes, and with only six designers remaining going into episode 10 they may need to pull out all the stops just to stick around.
As of this writing Laurence is the front-runner for elimination with leading odds of 6/5, which translates to a 45.1% chance of being sent home. He got a low score from the judges in episode nine, “Posen on the Red Carpet,” but it hasn’t been all bad for Laurence this season. He only had one other low score this season, in the season premiere episode.

Joshua McKinley was eliminated from “Project Runway All Stars” in “Posen on the Red Carpet,” and it proved to be one of the rare instances this season when the judges and our readers were on the same page. The very next week, in “A Kick in the Astro,” he got his very first low score of the season, and he responded defensively to the judges’ criticisms. But he was spared,...

Edmond Newton has struggled in recent weeks on “Project Runway All Stars,” and now he may be at risk of elimination. At least, that’s what our readers think. Newton got off to a great start, earning a high score from the judges in the season premiere for his autumn-inspired design. After starting with 16 contestants, season 6 of “Project Runway All Stars” was down to 8 going into episode 8, “Mizrahi Madness.” So the stakes were twice as high, and the designers needed to work twice as hard to win the judges’ approval. Two weeks after the elimination of Char Glover from “Project Runway All Stars” in the unique, cartoon-inspired challenge “Thrown for a Loop by Betty Boop,” the fashion design spin-off returned with its seventh episode of season six, “A Kick in the Astro.” And if the designers thought their distressed challenge and unconventional-materials challenge were tough, this time around they had to go for broke and unleash their unbridled creativity in an avant garde challenge judged by guest stars RuPaul Charles and Jesse Tyler Ferguson. “Project Runway All Stars” fans weren’t pleased when judges Alyssa Milano, Isaac Mizrahi and Georgina Chapman decided to eliminate Amanda Valentine in “Fashion’s New Superheroes.” Up until that point our users thought Valentine would win the season, and 93% of respondents thought she deserved to stay in the competition. The “Project Runway All Stars” designers were indeed “Thrown for a Loop by Betty Boop” on Thursday night, when the 10 remaining designers had to create a youthful Hollywood look for the iconic cartoon characters. The judges were baffled by the decisions made by some of the designers in this competition, but for them the worst of all was Char Glover, who took a chance on neoprene fabric for her dress. Even Glover knew that it was ultimately the wrong choice, and the judges didn’t think it reflected Betty Boop either, but did she really deserve to be eliminated from the competition? Our readers thought Amanda Valentine would go all the way in season six of “Project Runway All Stars.” She was the front-runner to win going into the February 1 episode, “Fashion’s New Superheroes,” so it took us by surprise at the end of the challenge when the judges sent her packing in 11th place. Fashion can be fickle like that, but did she really deserve to be eliminated for her design, a geometric dress in shades of pink inspired by female heroism? We asked our readers, and their answer was a resounding no.
So who deserved to get the boot? According to a whopping 77% of respondents, it should have been Merline Labissiere, who designed a square-shouldered look that was described as something out of “Star Trek” or “Star Wars.” It also featured elements the judges had already seen from her in previous challenges, so they weren’t impressed. In our weekly predictions for “Project Runway All Stars” season six Amanda Valentine was the front-runner to win for the better part of five weeks. The challenge for this episode required the designers to take inspiration from Rodial beauty products and translate those products into fierce designs to unleash their models’ inner superheroes. Valentine got “Pink Diamond,” and she struggled early on to wrap her mind around the concept because she didn’t know much about superheroes and the color pink was outside of her comfort zone. But she put in extra effort — maybe too much effort? — to create a complex color-blocking pattern that created a strong, geometric effect on the runway.

Daniel Franco, where did you go? Not far, apparently, 'cause he's back -- again! The very first designer ever auf-ed from "Project Runway," only to be cut early in Season 2, must be hoping the third time's the charm in "Project Runway All Stars" Season 5.
Entertainment Weekly just shared the list of new "All Stars" designers, plus the guest judges, and the premiere date: Thursday, February 11 at 9 p.m. Et on Lifetime.
This cast raises some eyebrows for a few reasons. One, they included two designers from "Under the Gunn," which EW labeled "Season 12.5." (Did you ever consider that show Season 12.5?) Also, there's no one from this past summer's Season 14 -- no Kelly Dempsey, no Edmond Newton, no anyone -- and no "Junior" designers either, which they could conceivably add if they're going to consider "Under the Gunn" PR canon.
(Just bad timing, perhaps, with the shooting of this season?)

It's the cardinal sin of any reality TV show to be boring and "Project Runway" Season 14 is determined not to go to fashion hell.
The 2015 season finale will air in two parts, with Part 1 tomorrow (Thursday, October 29) and Part 2 next Thursday, November 5. But the finale collection designs we'll see made this week and on the runway next week were already shown at New York Fashion Week back in September. The judges, finale guest judge Carrie Underwood, and other fashion favorites saw the designs in September and talked about what we'll be seeing.
"It definitely will not be boring," Heidi Klum told the Nyfw audience (via USA Today). Six designers showed at fashion week, including at least two decoys, since the real finale will include either three or four designers (depending on whether they give Edmond Newton the Tim Gunn Save and if someone is eliminated before showing collections).

"Project Runway," you can't fool us! At the end of last night's Season 14, Episode 12, "Roll Out the Red Carpet," Tim Gunn did not fold his hands in compassion and send Edmond Newton to the workroom to clean up his space. So Tim is going to use his save on Edmond, right, sending four designers to Fashion Week? Please?
The October 22 episode ended with Edmond as the shocking elimination -- especially shocking since he'd been one of the frontrunners from Week 1, he was never in the bottom before last night, and he took the risks that he was asked to take in this final red carpet challenge before Fashion Week.
Candice Cuoco was sent through even though the judges acknowledged she played it safe with that black dress and everyone said this was not the week to play it safe. Edmond experimented with color and really went wild with those scissors.

There are currently six designers left on "Project Runway" Season 14, and -- as it happens -- six PR designers showed at New York Fashion Week in September. This is how they do it every year, although they usually have a few more "decoy" collections, and usually the designers of each collection are known. This time, they showed anonymously. But by now we know the designers of the 2015 season, and it's pretty clear who did what. And those collections can give us an idea of who might be winning this season.
