Phew. The X Factor finally did something right this season: Alex and Sierra won.
Rolling Stone's Complete Coverage of The X Factor
After a rocky, borderline-laughable third season, the show may have saved face by declaring the cutesy couple from Simon Cowell's Groups category the victor and handing them a $1 million recording contract. They might actually stand a chance in the real world.
Of course, the U.S. version of The X Factor doesn't have a great history of launching careers – both previous winners (Melanie Amaro and Tate Stevens) have disappeared,...

Yes, I know that Alex and Sierra are fan-favorites, but come on — who could really create a hit record? Think about the radio for a moment, and it’s Jeff who can be a hit maker!
If there was any contestant who delivered big-time with their X Factor finale performances Dec. 18, it was Jeff Gutt. The Detroit-born 37-year-old with the sexy, raspy voice was a rock star with every note.
Jeff Gutt Should Win Over Alex & Sierra On ‘The X Factor’
While Alex & Sierra are cute and delivered a pretty rendition of “Say Something,” they totally wimped out on both their duet of “Bleeding Love” with Leona Lewis and their delicate rendition of “Give Me Love”.
Hey, I know it’s heartwarming to see them look adoringly into each other’s eyes, but honestly, when was the last time that a sugary, folksy duo ever had a hit record? I’m sorry,...

We're in the home stretch: The X Factor crowns a winner tonight. "I think this is going to be one of the closest finals we've ever had, and we've seen a few upsets over the weeks," Simon Cowell said, as if warning viewers that something was amiss.

And indeed it was: After weeks of stellar performances, presumed frontrunners Alex and Sierra faltered ever so slightly at a time when it's crucial for them to be spot-on. Jeff Gutt had the spotlight on him all night.

The country trio hit the ol’ dusty trail Dec. 12, but the boys tell HollywoodLife.com they’re staying positive!
Is Restless Road the One Direction of country music? Think about it: Both groups came from The X Factor, both groups were formed by Simon Cowell, and as of Dec. 12, both groups got an early boot from the competition. But there’s one more similarity between Simon’s babies, which HollywoodLife.com discovered when we spoke with Restless Road shortly after the group’s elimination: The boys are stronger together than they are individually!
“We’re just like a family,” Zach Beeken told us. ”We’re like brothers. We know that we all want to succeed, and if we want to do that, we all have to support each other. It can’t just be one person that runs the show. We’re all in the group. We’re all important.

Hey hey, ho ho, Carlito Olivero's got to go – unfortunately not this week, though. Yes, the perpetually-pitchy Latin singer somehow managed to hang on yet again as Rion Paige and Ellona Santiago got cut from the competition. But it wasn't for the right reasons.

Were the right acts eliminated this week? Drop a comment with your thoughts on the shocking results.

‘The X Factor’: Ellona Santiago & Rion Paige Eliminated
Yes, you read that right. After a nail-biting sing-off, the two acts American chose to send home tonight were Ellona Santiago and Rion Paige. We’re far in enough into the season that every act has developed its own intense fan base, so both of these eliminations were actually pretty painful.

‘The X Factor’ really does have the x-factor; it’s got the most un-groomed, undeveloped talent of all its competitors — and watching the contestants’ performances, and their families’ reactions, makes it the most emotionally-gripping show on TV today.
Rachel Potter, Simone Torres, Denise Weeks and Al Calderon made the Sept. 12 second-night premiere episode a blow-your-mind experience. Watching nondescript-looking Long Islander Simone , 19, in her T-shirt and lavender jeans, break into a deeply-soulful rendition of “Mustang Sally” was the kind of surprise that makes the show must-see TV.

'The X Factor' Season 3: Demi Lovato and Simon Cowell scoot over for Kelly Rowland and Paulina Rubio
"The X Factor," Fox's other singing competition, returns Wednesday, Sept. 11, with judges Simon Cowell, Kelly Rowland, Demi Lovato and Paulina Rubio.
The show made the news months before its Season 3 premiere because of Cowell. He has what the show's contestants dream about -- the X factor, that elusive quality that intrigues people.
It is star power, and the music and TV producer has it. Perhaps it's the mix of acerbic wit and scathing honesty, but Cowell found himself outshining the show because of fathering a child with his friend's wife.
Cowell kept his own counsel about this in an interview with Zap2it and while promoting the show at the Television Critics Association. At this writing, all he'd say is he "is proud to be a father."
Talking from his boat off the coast of Sardinia, Cowell says the third season of the show is "more fun and less sob stories.

Who needs an "X Factor" win when you've scored a record deal? For the boys of Emblem3, they seem to be doing pretty well for themselves -- even without the glory of a first-place title.
The former "X Factor USA" contestants (who finished fourth in the competition) -- Wesley, Keaton and Drew -- took to "On Air With Ryan Seacrest," where they released their first single this morning. The bouncy song is titled “Chloe (You’re the One I Want)" and will appear on their first album, which is scheduled to come out this year.
The boy band -- who have been compared to One Direction -- signed with Simon Cowell's Syco Music label at Columbia Records back in January.
When the boys were asked on the radio show what the craziest thing a fan has done so far, Wes answered, “One fan from Brazil sent us a puppy in the mail.

The three-piece boy band, formed on the second season of Fox’s The X Factor, released its new single “Chloe” on April 15, and it’s already stuck in our heads! The track premiered during On-Air with Ryan Seacrest, the birthplace of so many pop hits, and we’ve got a stream of the song for you to enjoy.
In a nutshell, the song is about a girl named Chloe, whom the boys find simply delightful. Chloe apparently has a super-hot sister who catches most guys’ eyes, but the bros of Emblem3 — Wesley Stromberg, 19, Keaton Stromberg, 16, and Drew Chadwick, 20 — only have eyes for Chloe.

Emblem3: Simon Cowell’s Next Big Boy Band
The cool teen trio, consisting of brothers Wesley and Keaton Stromberg and Drew Chadwick, won us and the nation over when they lit The X Factor up with their energetic performances.
Simon Cowell, who mentored the group while they were on The X Factor and subsequently signed them to his label Syco, was drawn to the band’s pop/rock mix, their SoCal coolness, and obviously their potential to be massive heartthrobs.

Simon Cowell is one shrewd businessman. Last night, when all eyes should have been on X Factor frontrunners Tate Stevens and Carly Rose Sonenclar, he somehow managed to get us fixated on his manufactured girl group Fifth Harmony.
With only three acts remaining, it seemed like a slam-dunk going into the finals that either Tate or Carly Rose would walk away with the $5 million recording contract tonight. But after 5H's strong showing during the final performances, we can't help but feel like the show's setting us up for an upset.

It's finals week on "The X Factor," but all anyone wants to hear from Simon Cowell is what the show will look like in Season 3.
Cowell and his fellow judges held a press conference to promote the two-part Season 2 finale and hype the final three acts: Tate Stevens, Carly Rose Sonenclar and Fifth Harmony. But the hottest topics all involved what's ahead for "X Factor" following a year-to-year ratings decline and the recent announcement that L.A. Reid will exit the show.
"It's a committee decision, everyone has a say," Cowell says about who may replace Reid on the judges panel. "On a personal level I'm gonna miss L.A. and on a business level I'm gonna miss him. He's a brilliant record maker."
"Right now it's much more important that I spend my time focused on the contestants with us, because they need this," Cowell says about his current priorities.
