Kolkata, Aug 22 (Ians) Champions Bengaluru Fc (Bfc) made their exit from the 132nd Durand Cup, with a fluent 2-0 win over Gokulam Kerala Fc (Gkfc), as the group stages of the tournament concluded here at the Kishore Bharati Krirangan. Gokulam had already qualified for the quarterfinals topping Group C with six points, after having won both their opening matches. Bengaluru finished second in the group with five points.
Bengaluru coach Bibiano Fernandes rested Ashish Jha and played Satyendra Yadav upfront while also allowing Sahil to man the Bengaluru goal in place of Amrit Gope, who played the first two games.
Gokulam’s Domingo Oramas on the other hand, with a big quarterfinal coming up, just retained three from their previous Blasters game and rested his key players like Sreekuttan, Nili Perdomo and Alex Sanchez, although he was forced to play them later in the game.

Guwahati/Kolkata, Aug 21 (Ians) With only one quarterfinalist left to be identified (the topper of Group F), the final day of the group matches in the 132nd Durand Cup will have Hyderabad Fc (Hfc) taking on Nepal’s Tribhuvan Army Fc (Tafc) in Guwahati’s Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium and champions Bengaluru Fc (Bfc) playing Gokulam Kerala Fc (Gkfc) at Kolkata’s Kishore Bharati Krirangan (Kbk).
Both of Tuesday’s matches will be majorly a battle of pride for the teams involved.
Both Hyderabad Fc and Tribhuvan Army Fc have so far drawn one game and lost the other and therefore will be desperate to end their 132nd Durand Cup campaign with a win.
Both teams have had their moments in the tournament, like when Tafc led against Delhi Fc or when the Nizams were ahead against Chennaiyin. However, as things stand Chennaiyin will be the only team to go through from the group.

Pathum Thani (Thailand), June 20 (Ians) India went down 0-1 against Uzbekistan in their second Group D match of the AFC U-17 Asian Cup at the Thammasat Stadium, in Pathum Thani, Thailand, here on Tuesday.
Substitute Mukhammedali Reimov netted the only goal of the match to seal victory for Uzbekistan.
Coming into the match after a draw against Vietnam, India head coach Bibiano Fernandes made one change to his starting XI, putting striker Thanglalsoun Gangte into the mix, in place of Akash Tirkey.
It was a much different affair from India’s first match against Vietnam. The Uzbekistan side looked a confident bunch after having held defending champions Japan 1-1 in their last game. They controlled large swathes of the field through the first half against India, whose efforts to orchestrate counter-attacks were thwarted on most occasions.

Pathum Thani (Thailand), June 17 (Ians) A superb goal by defender Malemngamba Thokchom helped India come back from behind to draw 1-1 against Vietnam in their opening Group D match of the AFC U-17 Asian Cup, here on Saturday.
Long Vu had put Vietnam in the lead towards the end of the first half, but India left-back Thokchom equalised in the 69th minute, to salvage a point for India.
India’s next two opponents in the group are Uzbekistan and Japan. The other match in the group between Japan and Uzbekistan too ended in a 1-1 draw.
It was a cautious, yet controlling start by the Blue Colts, who enjoyed possession of the ball for large parts of the play in the Vietnam half.
Early free-kicks on either flank for India meant that Vanlalpeka Guite and Lalpekhlua Ralte could put in dangerous balls into the Vietnam box, but the chances were headed away.

Khao Yai (Thailand), June 10 (Ians) Bullish after a well-planned and lengthy period of preparation, the Indian U-17 boys football team is aiming to make history at the AFC U-17 Asian Cup, and qualify for the global event to be held later in the year, as they get into the final stretch of their long journey.

New Delhi, May 31 (Ians) It was just less than a year ago when dark clouds of doubt hovered over the India U-17 Men’s National Team that was, at that time, participating in the Saff U-17 Championship in Sri Lanka.
A 1-3 loss in the last match of Group B against Nepal left Indian fans rather disappointed.
Fast forward another month, and not only had the Blue Colts won the Saff U-17 Championship, beating the same Nepal side 4-0, but they had also sealed their berth on the continental stage, defeating the likes of the Maldives, Kuwait, Myanmar, and giving hosts, the mighty Saudi Arabia, a tough fight in the last match (a 1-2 defeat) in the qualifiers for the AFC U-17 Asian Cup.

Kuwait City (Kuwait), Oct 17 (Ians) Amandeep and Loitongbam Taison Singh, the two fullbacks with the India U-20 men’s national football team, have impressed one and all with their performances for the age-group national teams.
Both have earned plaudits from head coach Shanmugam Venkatesh, opposition players, coaches, and even referees for their performances on the pitch at the AFC U-20 Asian Cup Qualifiers.
Fullbacks or side backs are a rare breed in modern-day football. They are considered defenders, yet they must attack. They need both creativity and the ability to tackle. They require to be explosive on certain occasions and yet be calm and collective on others.
Amandeep and Taison Singh have both excelled for the national team, displaying their skills and temperament to become the top fullbacks in their age group.

New Delhi, Sep 11 (Ians) The India U-17 National football team will be looking to put their disappointing loss against Nepal behind them as they take on Bangladesh in the Saff U-17 Championship semifinal on Monday.
The kick-off at the Racecourse International Stadium in Colombo is at Ist 3.30pm, and the match will be streamed live on the Eleven Sports platforms.
