The voting statistics for The X Factor 2012 have been revealed. The results, which were announced live on The Xtra Factor tonight (December 9), saw Christopher Maloney as the public's choice for the first seven weeks of the live shows. He also stormed the wildcard vote against Times Red, Amy Mottram and Adam Burridge, receiving 63.5% of votes cast. Runner-up Jahmene Douglas was also disclosed to have come second every week apart from week eight, when James Arthur topped the vote, followed by Maloney. Arthur then remained in pole position for the semi-final and last night's final live show. Most of the eliminated acts also came last on the week that they left the show, apart from Union J, who received 11.7% of the vote to fellow boyband District3's 10.4%, after 'Best of British' week. X Factor judge Nicole Scherzinger has defended the selection of Rylan Clark for the Live Shows. Digital Spy readers and Facebook users have reacted angrily to Joseph Whelan's departure from The X Factor. The rock singer and dad-of-one was one of the most popular auditionees on this year's series, but he wasn't selected for Judges' Houses at the weekend. Jake Quickenden, James Arthur, Jahmene Douglas, Nathan Fagan-Gayle, Adam Burridge and Rylan Clark were the six singers put through ahead of Whelan.
