An uncanny understanding of character dynamics and superior cast chemistry have made Stranger Things the defining science fiction drama of the last decade. Although fans love the special effects and evil enemies omnipresent in the series, showrunners the Duffer brothers have always grounded the story in character development. Mike’s (Finn Wolfhard) and Will’s (Noah Schnapp) potential romance, Eleven’s (Millie Bobby Brown) backstory as a lab rat, and Hopper’s quest for fatherhood have all amalgamated into an irresistible mix of plotting that feels novelistic and addicting for viewers.

After being delayed several months by the writers strike and the actors strike, season 5 of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things finally went into production at the start of the year and is now three months into its twelve month shooting schedule… but in the midst of filming, Finn Wolfhard is also doing the press rounds to promote the Ghostbusters: Afterlife sequel Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, which is set to reach theatres on March 22nd. An interview with The Hollywood Reporter was part of his press tour, and during that conversation, Wolfhard was asked about the ongoing production of Stranger Things season 5, which will also be the final season of the show. Since this is how it wraps up, it seems fitting that Wolfhard said it will be a return of the dynamics of the first season.

After being delayed several months by the writers strike and the actors strike, season 5 of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things finally went into production at the start of the year – and it’s going to continue making its way through production for quite a while longer, as new cast member Linda Hamilton has said that filming is going to take an entire year. So we’re not going to see this season, which is the final season of the show, until sometime in 2025… and star Millie Bobby Brown is looking forward to the premiere date with excitement, because she says the final episodes are going to be “unbelievable.”
Speaking with Screen Rant, Brown said, “There’s not much I can tease, but I know everybody’s super excited. I just think if you’ve loved the seasons before, you trust the Duffers. They’re geniuses, and they’ll bring it like no other.

After being delayed several months by the writers strike and the actors strike, season 5 of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things finally went into production at the start of the year – but if you were hoping that might mean the new episodes will be available to watch on Netflix by the end of 2024, or even at the beginning of 2025, new cast member Linda Hamilton is here to dash those hopes. While speaking to Business Insider, Hamilton said Stranger Things season 5 will be filming for an entire year!
Hamilton said, “It’s a year of shooting, so I couldn’t be happier. Their season takes a year to shoot, which is just an unheard-of luxury of time. But the size of their day is also so beyond any scale that we’re used to.“

One of the new characters introduced in season 4 of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things was Argyle, a pothead delivery boy for Surfer Boy Pizza who helps some of the returning characters get from California back to their hometown of Hawkins, Indiana. But if you were hoping to see actor Eduardo Franco reprise the role of Argyle in Stranger Things season 5, which will be the final season of the show… well, it sounds like you’re in for disappointment. During an interview on the Steve Varley YouTube channel, Franco said it doesn’t look like he’ll be back for the new season.

After an eight month delay that was caused by the writers strike, the actors strike, and the holiday break, Stranger Things season 5 – which is the last season of the hit Netflix series – has finally gone into production. The fifth and final season of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things was just about to start filming when the writers strike hit back in May. A couple months into that strike, the Screen Actors Guild also went on strike – and while the writers strike ended in September, the actors strike continued on into November. They celebrated the start of production by unveiling of a behind-the-scenes image of the cast with series creators The Duffer Brothers, and you can check out that image at the bottom of this article.

The fifth and final season of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things was just about to start filming when the writers strike hit back in May. But now that the writers strike – and the actors strike that followed it – has come to an end, series creators The Duffer Brothers are preparing to head into production on Stranger Things season 5 at the start of January. But as they get ready to start filming, they took a moment to talk to The Guardian… and while the conversation was primarily about the stage play Stranger Things: The First Shadow, they also mentioned that the new season of the show will be like “season 1 on steroids” and the biggest the show has ever been.
Matt Duffer told The Guardian, “This season – it’s like season one on steroids. It’s the biggest it’s ever been in terms of scale, but it has been really fun,...

But first he had to make an appearance at Motor City Comic Con, and during the show he confirmed that season 5 has “a very real ending” that wraps up the story.
Harbour said (with thanks to Deadline for sharing his comment), “The beauty of it is, there’s a real ending. The fifth and final season of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things was supposed to go into production right around the time the writers strike hit earlier this year – so it had to be put on hold, and then there was another reason for it to stay on hold when the actors strike hit. When the writers strike ended in September, finishing the Stranger Things season 5 scripts was one of Netflix’s top priorities. And now that the actors strike has come to an end, Stranger Things season 5 is finally about to head into production. In fact, cast member David Harbour says it’s going to start filming in just a couple days!
Variety caught to Harbour at a BoxLunch Gala honoring Feeding America. When asked what comes first on his post-strike agenda, he said, “I mean, we got to film that last season of Stranger Things, don’t we?...

Season 5 of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things is also going to be the final season of the show. It was supposed to be deep into production by now, but it has been slowed down due to the Hollywood strikes – first the writers strike, then the ongoing actors strike. So the show’s writers marked the occasion by sharing the first lines from the first episode of season 5 on social media:

As if we needed more proof that Vecna has been lurking in Hawkins since the beginning of our "Stranger Things" journey, fans recently spotted a clue in season four that foreshadows one character's death way before it happens. While people create endless fan art and petitions to mourn Eddie Munson's death, one not-so-beloved character recently caught the attention of Reddit user hunimpressed. "Caught this on my rewatch. I see what they did there," the user wrote over a screen grab from "Chapter Two: Vecna's Curse."
The scene, which takes place in the second episode of season four, features Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) at a party with his fellow basketball teammates, a group of jocks fronted by rich athlete Jason Carver (Mason Dye). "First hangover feels like you're gonna split in two," Jason tells Lucas after the team go out drinking together.

Warning: This story includes Stranger Things spoilers. Stranger Things season four, volume two had a takedown that was oh-so satisfying. No, we aren't talking about Nancy (Natalia Dyer), Robin (Maya Hawke) and Steve (Joe Keery) weakening the humanoid sentient creature Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower). We're referring to the moment Hawkins High School student Jason (Mason Dye) was split in half by the Upside Down's newly opened gate. It may seem cold to root for this teenager's demise, but his violent end came after his own terrible deeds, including beating up Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin), ordering his lackeys to attack Erica (Priah Ferguson) and convincing the town that sweet Eddie Munson (Joseph...

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you haven’t watched “The Piggyback,” the final episode of “Stranger Things 4,” now streaming on Netflix.

This article obviously contains enormous spoilers for Stranger Things season 4.
Pop culture has trained us well to expect some corpses in the season finales of our favorite television shows. When it comes to Stranger Things season 4, however, it was particularly clear that a cast culling was in store.
Not only has Stranger Things not been shy about callously murdering its characters in the past but season 4 almost had to kill off some folks as a matter of pure logistics. It’s well-covered territory that this is the longest Stranger Things season by far with each episode running in excess of 70 minutes and the final two episodes going for an hour and a half and two and a half hours, respectively. A lot of that narrative bloat can be attributed to the show’s overwhelmingly large cast size and the disparate journeys they all go on.

The conclusion to “Stranger Things” Season 4 arrives July 1 in the form of two final episodes, the finale of which has a runtime of over two hours. Combined, the two episodes add up to almost four hours. And while it’s only been a month since Volume 1 came out, you may be in need of a brief recap before diving into the epic conclusion.
The most unforgettable twist in Season 4 so far might be the role of Jamie Campbell Bower’s character in tying everything together, including the long-desired explanation of the mythology behind the Upside Down. The fate of characters like Nancy, who was caught in Vecna’s clutches at the end of Volume I, and Eleven, who went on a mission to regain her telekinetic powers, come next in the threads we expect to be tied at the end of this fourth season. We also can’t forget that...

Netflix's decision to save the final two episodes of Stranger Things Season 4 until July 1 didn't go down well with fans.
The streaming service dropped a full-length trailer for the final two episodes on Tuesday, and it looks like we're in for another A+ conclusion for the 1980s-set drama.
The mission to save Hawkins is poised to be Eleven's biggest battle to date, and after learning how she and Vecna know each other on Stranger Things Season 4 Episode 7, well, it's going to lead to some more heartbreak.
The trailer utilizes Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill," once again to build the tension as all of these characters prepare to fight demons, both literal and physical.
One scene that sticks out from the trailer features Max caught by Vecna again, likely teasing a brutal beatdown between the pair.

Queue up your favorite song, because Season 4 of “Stranger Things” — and its new villain, Vecna — will be back on July 1. Netflix dropped the official trailer for Volume 2 of the massively popular horror sci-fi series, hinting at what’s to come in the final two supersized episodes of the show’s penultimate season.
Volume 1 ended on a major cliffhanger, right after it was revealed that Vecna is actually Henry Creel (Jamie Campbell Bower), a Hawkins boy from the ’50s who became the first test subject in the same government experiment as Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown). Nancy Wheeler (Natalia Dyer) was still inside the Upside Down at the end of the season, but first-look images released by Netflix on June 14 revealed that she survives and makes it back to Hawkins — for now.

“Stranger Things 4” viewership has been so strong it’s spooky. The fourth season of Eleven & friends’ sci-fi exploits just broke the “Bridgerton” Season 2 record for most hours viewed within a show’s first 28 days and it only needed 17 days to do it. Through those two-and-a-half weeks, “Stranger Things” Season 4 amassed 781.04 million hours viewed, according to Netflix’s own internal tally. (“Stranger Things 4” added another 159.24 million hours this past week.)
Not only did “Stranger Things” Season 4 not require the full four weeks to shatter the previously-held English-language TV record, it also didn’t need its final two supersized episodes to do it. Those, which include the nearly two-and-a-half-hour season finale, drop July 1; the first seven episodes of the penultimate season landed on Netflix May 27.
Last week, “Stranger Things 4” ranked third all-time (with 621.80 million hours viewed) on Netflix’s Most Popular TV (English) list, behind Season 1 of Shonda Rhimes’ “Bridgerton” (625.49 million) and...

The end is nigh for the residents of Hawkins.
Netflix on Tuesday unveiled photos for the final two episodes of Stranger Things Season 4.
These episodes are set to drop on the streaming service around the globe on Friday, July 1, and will prepare fans for the final season of the sci-fi drama.
We see Eleven and Benner in one of the photos, presumably in the aftermath of her failed escape from the bunker.
Eleven finally knows the truth about what happened in the lead-up to the Hawkins Laboratory Massacre, something that will stick with her as she embarks on her journey.
The youngster's journey has been about getting answers to the blanks in her memory, coming to terms with her powers, and saving her friends.
Given where we left the rest of the characters on Stranger Things Season 4 Episode 7, we're in for a lot of drama.

Obviously, "Stranger Things" isn't exactly worried about factual accuracy, but season four of the hit Netflix show does take inspiration from two major real events. The first volume of "Stranger Things" season four dropped on May 27, and both the story of the Creel House and the town's reaction to the Hawkins murders are clearly inspired by real events from the 1970s and 1980s - the Amityville Horror and the satanic panic.
The Amityville Horror and "Stranger Things"
You might be most familiar with the story of the Amityville Horror from the series of films it spawned. But originally, the story was told in a 1977 book by Jay Anson called "The Amityville Horror: A True Story." The book tells the story of George and Kathleen Lutz, a recently married couple who moved with Kathleen's children into a house in Amityville on New York's Long Island. “Stranger Things” Season 4, Part 1 is lurking just around the corner.
The largest season yet, Season 4 of the Netflix series is also the most cinematic — with episode runtimes over 60 minutes (the finale itself will be more than two hours long). According to its creators, it leans into horror fare, as we see the main crew age out of middle school and embark on a sprawling quest that includes California, where homages galore include paying tribute to stoner classic “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” and “E.T.”
For Emmys eligibility, “Stranger Things” was split into two parts, with the first — comprising six episodes — releasing May 27. The latter half — featuring three episodes — will drop on the streamer July 1. Season 4 will pick up half a year following the events of Season 3, and will see its main characters struggling to adapt to high school as new threats emerge. Arguably, the scariest part of “Stranger Things 4” is how thoroughly it embodies the worst habits of the streaming era — with the only real competition being how much time it takes to fit them all in. Prolonged Season 4 episodes have been sold as an attribute when they’re anything but; splitting the season in two may “event-ize” Netflix’s blockbuster series, but — with only two super-sized episodes left for Part 2’s release in July — it’s no favor to fans; characters stagnate while clunky puzzle pieces are given priority; repetitive visual effects are overemphasized to mask the missing emotional impact; episodic structure is abandoned, as if co-creators Matt and Ross Duffer believe their whole show should be long movies, rather than just the feature-length final episodes.
If it seems like I’m getting ahead of myself, rest assured “Stranger Things” Season 4 starts with an infuriating custom of our current TV age: an in media res intro.

Eleven has lost her powers at the end of Stranger Things’ third season and they don’t appear to have returned in the first trailer for the long-delayed fourth season of the Netflix supernatural drama series.

Netflix has unveiled some of the first photos for the upcoming fourth season of the Duffer brothers’ Stranger Things, and there’s definitely a creepy feeling about what’s to come.

Along with revealing the premiere date for its much-delayed fourth season on Thursday, Netflix announced that “Stranger Things” — the sci-fi horror series that premiered in 2016, and became a phenomenon — has been renewed for a fifth and final season.
In a letter to fans that said “Stranger Things 4” would be split into two parts, with the first to debut May 27 and the second to launch July 1, series creators Matt and Ross Duffer also unveiled the big news that the show will conclude with “Stranger Things 5.”
“Seven years ago, we planned out the complete story arc for ‘Stranger Things,'” the showrunners, credited as the Duffer Brothers, said in a letter shared on Netflix’s blog. “At the time, we predicted the story would last four to five seasons. It proved too large to tell in four, but — as you’ll soon see for yourselves — we are now hurtling toward our finale.

We still don't have a Stranger Things Season 4 premiere date, but we do have a shiny new teaser trailer.
Netflix on Saturday morning unveiled a new teaser trailer that reveals Eleven moved to California along with the Byerses.
It's been six months since the end of Stranger Things Season 3, and Eleven is struggling to fit in with her fellow classmates.
The good news is that she is still very much in contact with Mike and she's planning to have the best Spring Break ever.
The trailer also offers up some other exciting scenes, peeling away at a new mystery that will switch things up considerably.
Given that this teaser was set in California and even has "California" in the title, we're inclined to believe there will be other teaser trailers released today showing the characters in their new locations.
We already got a teaser of Hopper's new location well over a year ago now,...

Netflix debuted a “Stranger Things” Season 4 teaser in honor of “Stranger Things Day” — Nov. 6, the same day the sci-fi drama character Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) first went missing in Hawkins, Ind. in 1983. The new season will launch summer 2022.
In it, Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and Will are living new lives in California, where Eleven seems to be having a hard time adjusting, although she doesn’t admit that when writing to Mike (Finn Wolfhard). Her letter serves as narration for the teaser, which you can watch below.
“I even like school now. I have made lots of friends,” she says, as she’s ignored by peers in the school hallway. “Even so, I am ready for spring break, mostly because I get to see you. We will have the best spring break ever.”

Netflix shared a new teaser for the fourth season of “Stranger Things” on Friday, revealing for the first time that the hit horror-sci-fi series will return in 2022.
