Exclusive: Electric Panda Entertainment and Gold Star Productions announced today that Miles Brown (Black-ish) and Andrew Koji are set to star in the upcoming comedic action-thriller Sixteen. Emmy-nominated stunt coordinator/action director Brett Chan will be making his feature directorial debut, from the screenplay written by Jason Bourque (Insomnia), Phillip Mitchell and David Zanardi (A Wine Country Christmas). Production is set to begin Winter 2023 in Vancouver.
The film is being produced by Ken Frith and co-writer Jason Bourque of Gold Star Productions (Drone), and Yas Taalat, Gabriel Napora and Yipeng Ben Lu of Electric Panda Entertainment (The Informer). Executive producers include Adam Riback, Costa Vassos and Cody Sparshu.

Exclusive: Freestyle Digital Media has acquired North American rights to a pair of coming-of-age dramas: writer-director Alana Waksman’s debut feature We Burn Like This, and writer-director Anna Matz’s first feature, Love You Anyway. The digital film distribution division of Byron Allen’s Allen Media Group plans to release both titles across internet and satellite platforms on June 28.
Inspired by true events, the former film from Armian Pictures shows the inherited effects of historical trauma and the strength of survival and healing. When 22-year-old Rae (Madeleine Coghlan), a descendant of Holocaust survivors, is targeted by Neo-Nazis in Billings, Montana, her ancestors’ trauma becomes real. As antisemitism continues to rise in the community, we follow Rae on her journey to forgive herself, her mother and the broken world. We Burn Like This also stars Reservation Dogs‘ Devery Jacobs, as well as Kendra Mylnechuk, Angelo Rizzo, Casidee Riley and Megan Folsom.

Bleecker Street has secured North American rights to “The Loneliest Whale: The Search for 52,” a new documentary from Joshua Zeman. The film will be released in theaters on July 9.
The documentary centers on the “52 Hertz Whale,” which scientists believe has spent its entire life in solitude calling out at a frequency that is different from any other whale.
“The team of scientists and filmmakers take the audience on a wild search for this mysterious creature,” said Andrew Karpen, CEO of Bleecker Street. “They follow in the steps of the great intrepid explorers searching for nature’s wonders, but also a greater understanding of man’s place in the world and what we must do to ensure its survival.”
Bleecker Street recently released the “The World to Come,” a historical romance with Katherine Waterston and Vanessa Kirby, as well as the Colin Firth and Stanley Tucci drama “Supernova” and the Julia Garner drama “The Assistant.
