Bhoot Part One The Haunted Ship
Starring Vicky Kaushal, Ashutosh Rana, Meher Vij
Directed by Bhanu Pratap Singh
Karan Johar is into horror now. A lot of people thought Kalank was his first horror film. But his initiation into the arena of spook began with Ghost Stories last month. Now in his first full-fledged fear-fest, Karan Johar is fully into the think of things on a haunted ship which, like Karan’s Kalank, docks into Mumbai un-navigated.
Instead of drowning the ship in the ocean (maybe tie the monster contraption to a few boulders) the film’s naval hero Prithvi played by the up and coming Vicky Kaushal, drowns his dread of the dead in drinks. No wonder he starts seeing evil spirits at home and on the ship. If you spend too much time with memories you become a ghost.
Best friend Riaz (tokenism at its most glaring) clutches Prithvi and sobs,...

Vicky Kaushal has been riding high on the success of Uri: The Surgical Strike that released last year. From starring in action-thrillers to romantic and espionage flicks, the actor has now tried the horror genre with his next, Bhoot – Part One: The Haunted Ship.
It was the concept that attracted the actor. Probably, he also wanted to overcome his fear as he confesses to being terrified of watching horror films. “When I read the script, what fascinated me was its geography. It was almost like Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining. I liked the thought that there is a vacant hotel, there are so many rooms, and there is just one person, so anything can happen anywhere. There is a lot to play with. This is the same geography where there is a dilapidated big container ship. There are 10 floors, 300 rooms, engine room, pump room, staircases. So there are many textures in this geography,...

Manmariziyaan refers to the instinctual belief that the heart does whatever it wants. The new film starring Abhisekh Bachchan, Vicky Kaushal and Tapsee Pannu follows this instinctual belief from its beginning to its hopefully happy end. Even though the story is Punjabi and is set in Punjab with involving Punjabi characters, it gives a modern look at romance, love and lust; themes that will resonate across the world as Tapsee makes the tough choice between the wild Vicky and the arranged marriage with Abhisekh. Releasing 14th September, the film is produced by Phantom films and Yellow productions, who have called upon Amit Trivedi to give the audience a 11-track Punjabi musical extravaganza.
