Rui is writing a screenplay for her filmmaker boyfriend. As she patiently waits for his return, she develops profound uncertainties about herself, her love and her work. Meiko has suspended her acting career because of depression and now works at a cafe. One day, Meiko’s brother pays her a visit bearing the news that their father has started to show signs of dementia. Set in Honmoku, Yokohama which was requisitioned by the US military after WWII, the neighbourhood shows no trace of its history. Forgotten as it is, two women suffer “irresistible oblivion” and “nowhere-ness” in modern Japan. [Sources: IMDb and Entrevues Belfort International Film Festival]
