Beyoncé captivated Hollywood’s attention Saturday night as the superstar held a stealthily staged world premiere of her concert movie, “Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé,” at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.
The movie, which documents her Renaissance World Tour, will be released in the U.S. on Dec. 1 via major exhibition chains, including AMC, Regal and Cinemark. Beyoncé fans have noted that Dec. 1 also marks World AIDS Day – the singer dedicated her “Renaissance” album to her late cousin Johnny (she refers to him as “Uncle Johnny”), who died of AIDS-related illness.
Details of the premiere were kept under wraps, with guests invited with a save-the-date that only included the screening’s 7 p.m. start time and a “cozy opulence” dress code. The location, which turned out to be the Goldwyn Theater, was provided less than 24 hours before the start of the festivities. Guests were advised to take a...

With capacities back to pre-pandemic limits, mask mandates on ice (for now — fingers crossed) and people generally looking to blow off some steam, the ’20s are finally starting to feel fun (if not quite as debauched as the ’20s of a century ago depicted in Damien Chazelle’s Babylon). So in honor of this, the first New Year’s Eve in a long while that feels normal-ish again, we’ve compiled a comprehensive list of the biggest bashes in L.A. to ring in 2023. So what are you waiting for? Get out there and dance!

Troye Sivan, Charli Xcx and Pussy Riot were among the artists taking the stage in Los Angeles on Thursday night at the first-ever Go West Fest, which coincided with the first weekend of Pride Month and served as an unofficial kick off to L.A. Pride. The Live Nation-produced event — named after the 1979 Village People song about finding a utopia that’s free from discrimination — brought together an almost-entirely Lgbtq lineup, who performed before a near-capacity crowd at the Wiltern Theatre. A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales went to advocacy organization GLAAD.

Videology is a bi-weekly column by Kyle Turner where we look at music videos, music in film, and the relationship between the two.
Like other smart pop stars before her, Lana Del Rey is obsessed with identity, particularly its paradoxical nature as something both incredibly malleable as well as the rigidity of the norms that society around us/her set. She’s interested in iconography: it’s not just a fancy word for fame, but iconography as a form of recognition that transcends genre, time, and space. Her latest video, “High on the Beach”, which was released two weeks ago, takes the same general subject as Lady Gaga’s “Telephone”. And though she shoots this video, and in a broader sense her entire persona, through the lens of the disparate relationship between time and fame (1960s Americana juxtaposed 2010 realities), there’s always the nagging feeling that the artifice she’s constructed is just that.

You wanna be on top? The contestants for Cycle 22 of "America's Next Top Model" hit the green carpet for the first time last night, where we got a look at the 14 finalists vying for the win for the third season featuring both men and women. The group partied it up inside Greystone Manor for the bash -- which was sponsored by Oppo smartphones and Nylon -- alongside Tyra Banks, J. Alexander, Sophie Simmons, Shaun Ross, Jonathan Bennett and a group of former contestants. Sporting her new pixie cut and a skin-tight red dress, Banks looked incredible on the carpet -- proving she can still smize with the best of 'em. Cycle 4 winner Naima Mora looked gorgeous as ever inside the party, where we also caught up with Cycle 2's April Wilkner, Cycle 2 finalist Mercedes Scelba-Shorte and more recent contestant Hannah Kat Jones. See more past contestants now in the gallery above!
