Ken Clark was born in Christchurch, New Zealand in 1957. His interest in horror films, especially King Kong, lead him to experiment with stop motion animation. He was placed 3rd in the BBC Television. ASIFA, ICOGRADA Animated Film Competition in 1973. From the 1980s on he has been employed at various times by TVNZ, TV3, CTV as film and videotape editor, animator and director as well as freelance work in these fields. Ken has also tutored Stop Motion animation and CGI courses at Ara /CPIT and wrote the NZQA approved, course 'Introduction to 3D animation' used by the National College of Multimedia and Technology. Films and television programs he has worked on have featured in festivals and channel around the world. He was a finalist for the 2003 New Zealand Academy of Film and Television Arts award for Design and his hand-drawn animated film 'Terpsichore' was the winner in the Experimental Animation category of the 2016 International Uni Shorts Film Festival. He has a Graduate Certificate in Design from CPIT and a BFA (Hons) from Canterbury University.
He now spends more time as an artist than a filmmaker and has been exhibited in Europe and the USA as well as New Zealand. He is one of the few New Zealand artists to have been selected for the 'On Screen' project at the Saatchi Gallery in London
