The new Arcade feature allows Sling TV subscribers to play interactive games while watching live TV programming from the same screen.
Dish Network’s streaming TV platform Sling TV is rolling out a new feature that allows subscribers to play interactive games alongside live television programming.
The feature, called Arcade, is rolling out to users this week and is included with Sling’s base TV packages called Sling Orange ($40 per month) and Sling Blue ($40 per month). The games are also available to customers who use Sling’s free, ad-supported platform Sling Freestream.
“Sling continues to put its subscribers and users first; we want people to not only love the flexibility and control, but we want the entire experience to be fun and engaging,” Gary Schanman, the Group President of Dish Video Services, said in a statement.

With its shares in free fall after a dismal third-quarter earnings report, Dish Network executives faced the music with Wall Street, conceding in an earnings call that they face an array of intensifying challenges.
“We have a narrow path, but there is a path, to achieve financial stability and make sure we meet our commitments,” Chairman Charlie Ergen said. “Having been through this for a long time, we’ve had narrow paths before.”
The company’s shares plunged more than 37% on more than eight times normal trading volume to finish the day at $3.44. It was the stock’s biggest single-day drop in the nearly three decades since it began trading and its lowest closing price in 25 years.
Along with trying to squeeze money out of its legacy pay-tv business, whose subscriber levels are dropping by double-digit year-over-year rates, the company is still trying to pull off a grand strategic pivot.

London, Aug 27 (Ians) Fighting lung infection? Eating cruciferous vegetables like kale, cauliflower, broccoli, or cabbage can help ease infection, according to a study conducted in mice.
Researchers at the Francis Crick Institute found that the Ahr — aryl hydrocarbon receptor — is a protein found at barrier sites like the gut and the lung.
The natural molecules in these cruciferous vegetables are dietary ‘ligands’ for Ahr, which means, once eaten, they activate Ahr to target a number of genes. Some of the genes targeted switch off the Ahr system, allowing it to self-regulate.
The effect of Ahr on immune cells is well understood, but the research, published in the journal Nature, now shows that Ahr is also highly active in endothelial cells lining blood vessels in the lung.
The lung barrier between the body and the air outside is only made up of two layers, one of endothelial cells and one of epithelial cells,...

London, Aug 17 (Ians) Researchers have found that molecules in vegetables like broccoli or cauliflower can help to maintain a healthy barrier in the lung and ease infection, a new study has shown.
According to the study published in the journal Nature, the Ahr — aryl hydrocarbon receptor — is a protein found at barrier sites like the gut and the lung.

The lung barrier between the body and the air outside is only made up of two layers — endothelial cells and epithelial cells — because it needs to allow oxygen to enter. But the barrier also has to be kept strong against pollution or viruses and bacteria, the researchers explained.

Wheelhouse UK Wins First Commission With Channel 5’s ‘Puzzling’
Jimmy Kimmel and Brent Montgomery’s Wheelhouse has secured its first UK commission, a Channel 5 quiz format produced with ITV Studios-backed 12 Yard. In Puzzling [working title], broadcaster and historian Lucy Worsley will challenge Britain’s brightest minds across five rounds on language, calculation, lateral thinking, visual intelligence and memory. In a dramatic plot twist, the winning team then turn on each other to be named the ‘Best of the Best’ and earn a place in the series Grand Final, where the winner will be crowned. The series is the first revealed commission for Wheelhouse’s UK arm, which is helmed by former Deal or No Deal producer Glenn Hugill, who set it up earlier this year. 12 Yard is co-producer. Channel 5 rarely dabbles in quiz formats but recently picked up Eggheads, another high-end quizshow that used to air on BBC Two.

Exclusive: Simon Andreae, Chief Executive of Too Hot To Handle and The Apprentice producer Fremantle UK, faced at least two complaints of workplace misconduct before he quit today, citing health reasons.
Andreae told Fremantle staff on Friday morning that he was stepping down with immediate effect to focus on his health, family, and a smaller workload. The prominent British television executive had faced two recent investigations into alleged comments he made to female colleagues, insiders told Deadline.
Andreae, Fox’s former Executive Vice President of Alternative Entertainment, was questioned over an alleged incident at a Fremantle diversity event last month. Separately, Fremantle hired an external lawyer to examine accusations about his conduct in February. In both cases, sources said Andreae was accused of using sexualized language that made female colleagues uncomfortable.
Andreae’s attorney said he resigned for health reasons. Fremantle declined to comment on internal staff matters, but said...
