Laura Peterson(VII)
- Composer
Laura Peterson is a classically trained pianist and composer residing
in Washington, D.C. During high school, she studied piano with Dr.
Anita Renfroe. Laura attended the Birmingham Conservatoire in
Birmingham, England under the tutelage of Mark Racz. She was a Bach
Prize finalist and active in accompanying, early music, jazz, and
Palestrina counterpoint. Laura graduated from the Birmingham
Conservatoire in 2000 with a Bachelors of Music in Piano Performance
with honors.
Gifted with perfect pitch and playing popular tunes by ear at the piano from the age of 2, Laura started composing as a child. Her childhood compositions won numerous scholastic and national awards and were orchestrated and performed by the Hillingdon Youth Orchestra at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London in 1985.
Before resuming full-time composition and performance opportunities in 2013, Laura pursued a career in the video game and Internet industries as a game designer and product manager while performing and composing on a freelance basis: she provided original music and soundtracks for iPhone apps, short films, documentaries, and webisodes, TV pilots, interactive marketing experiences, and weddings.
Laura also arranged and performed piano and keys for several music sessions at Cue and Bias Studios and performed with East Coast bands Crooked Crow, The Energy, and Tigertronic at venues such as Irving Plaza, The Bitter End, The State Theatre, 9:30 Club, and DC9. Laura also sang with the Danny Ozment Chorale during the Video Games Live tour at The Filene Center, Wolf Trap, in 2013.
Laura now devotes her time and energy full-time for composition and performance opportunities. An EP of original songs is currently being recorded.
