Robin Thede ain’t here for any more Emmy snubs for the hilarious Black women from “A Black Lady Sketch Show.”
“We’re showing you the characters behind the characters,” she recently told Variety at a Q&a panel. “I love it. You see the full range of actors on the show. But I want to note that none of the show’s actors have ever been nominated for an Emmy, and they deserve it.”
Four seasons into the groundbreaking HBO series, the creative minds and strategists hope to change that.

Exclusive: UTA has signed former journalist turned comedian, television writer, and award-winning author, Chloé Hilliard.
In television, Hilliard is currently a co-executive producer and co-head writer on HBO’s Emmy Award-winning A Black Lady Sketch Show.
As a comedian, she made her late-night debut on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. She has been featured on Wilmore, The Breakfast Club, The Drew Barrymore Show, This Week at the Comedy Cellar, Chris Gethard Presents, Last Comic Standing, and The Nightly Show, among others. Hilliard appeared alongside Gina Yashere, Lil Rel Howery, Roy Wood Jr., and others in Comedy Central’s documentary, Dark Humor.
Her debut book, F*ck Your Diet, was released by Simon & Schuster’s Gallery Books and received several acknowledgments, including the Best Comedy Book of 2020 by the African American Literary Awards, and was a Goodreads Choice Awards Finalist for Best Humor Book.

Exclusive: The media is coming into focus for this week’s episode of Wilmore. The Peacock late-night comedy, fronted by Larry Wilmore, will look at the media with The West Wing star Bradley Whitford, journalist Soledad O’Brien and Saturday Night Live’s Chris Redd.
Whitford, who also stars in Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale, is coming off the back of A West Wing Special to Benefit When We All Vote, which aired last week on HBO Max. O’Brien is the host of Matter of Fact, a nationally syndicated talk show produced by Hearst Television, and Redd has been a cast member of the NBC late-night comedy since 2017. Redd will also be Wilmore’s lightning round guest this week.
Wilmore is going into his sixth show since launching on the streamer. Other topics he has tackled include protests, voter suppression, police, class, and comparing where we are to the 2016 presidential election.
