Joe Zhen

Professor Joe Zhen is a noted surround sound expert and educator with
rich experience in film sound production and digital cinema technology.
He is also an artist in film creation and music production. He holds
title of the Great Wall Scholar and full professorship at Beijing Film
Academy. He is also the expert consultant of the Ministry of Education
of P.R.C He is the funding director of the graduate program in
integrate media technology in 2004 and the funder of the continuing
education sub B.A. and B.A. program. He is the director of the teaching
and research section of sound production technology in the sound
department. He has contributed to the concept, design and realization
of the practical teaching facility and the Film Sound Production
Laboratory, which including a certified Dolby SR.D final-mixing stage.
He is the author of the Surround Sound Miking Techniques for Concert
and co-author of The Techniques of the Digital Film and HDTV
Production. As a film maker and music production engineer, he worked on
over hundreds of film, TV series, and music productions include films
We Are the World, Iron and Silk, Life on A String, The Making Of Steel,
For There Is Love, Erma's Wedding ,and Energy Behind The Heart(Show
Time). He makes TV series including Spring Fever, Survive, A Veteran
And His Bar, The Star Dream, A Leaf in The Storm, The Life of A Peking
Policeman, Make Life in The Imperial Capital, The Lost Prince, and the
Spark ,etc. He was the sound supervisor of The 100 Stories of Museum in
China and Country with Family, and creative The Home Land of Dinosaur,
Mountain Huangshan, Deng-Xiaoping and a number of 4D shorts. He is also
part time sound supervisor at New Land Art Centre and other film/TV
works such as China TV & Film Production Company, Co., Ltd. His works
won several National or Academic Prizes, including the "Huabiao Award",
the "Five-one Project" Award and CSMPTE Prizes. Professor Joe Zhen is a
member of the Audio Engineering Society and committee member of the
Sound Council of CSMPTE. He also holds membership in another academic
organization.
