Jan Frouman, who joined Telepool as CEO in September, and Julia Weber, who was promoted to be head of international acquisitions and sales at Global Screen in January, spoke to Variety about the projects and partners they are looking for, and what the company can offer in return. Telepool Consolidates Int’l Distribution Business
Telepool’s international distribution division Global Screen has consolidated all sales and acquisition activities across both TV and film content, with Julia Weber appointed to run the entity as Head of International Acquisitions and Sales. Alexandra Heidrich, previously in the role, will depart the company. “The traditional international distribution model is very much a thing of the past. More than ever, we need to engage with creators earlier, and operate as reliable and fully committed co-producers – no matter the type of content. Theatrical films and TV product are each core to our international business. Consolidating everything under Julia’s experienced and proven leadership is a logical next step, and will allow us to be strategic, nimble and growth-focused,” said Telepool CEO Jan Frouman.

German film and TV company Telepool, jointly owned by Hollywood actor-producer Will Smith and Swiss investor Elysian Fields, is moving forward in multiple areas of the entertainment business, CEO André Druskeit tells Variety. Fairies, dragons, a trip to the moon and the fall of the Berlin Wall are just some of the family-friendly highlights in German and European animation this year.
While the current crop of animated pics offer historical themes and adaptations of beloved books, a popular German toy line serves as the basis for one highly anticipated film. The European Film Market is buzzing with animation.

Noah Is Gone…” (a.k.a. “All Creatures Big and Small”), “Bayala” explores a fantasy world populated by elves, fairies, unicorns and dragons based on the hot-selling figurines manufactured by German toymaker Schleich.
The film follows two fairy princesses who embark on a journey with a dragon egg to save their magical kingdom.
