The highly realistic Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare game is already eking out teardrops...
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the upcoming 2019 installment in the long-running shooter series, is starting to sound like a rather emotional experience. Apparently, people who've played the game early have had some eye-watering reactions. Literally.
"We’ve had multiple playtesters cry," campaign gameplay director Jacob Minkoff said in an interview with PC Games N. Modern Warfare is aiming to be highly realistic, leaving out more fanciful elements of the franchise in favor of gritty battles that could happen in real life. This added sense of groundedness could provide an explanation for these tear-jerking previews.
"I thought it was a joke when they told me," art director Joel Emslie said, "and then I watched a video of it. It was a real human moment, and now I’m like, ‘I worked on a game that made someone cry.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will skip the Zombies mode this year, but it does have a campaign.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, this year's installment in the popular first-person shooter series, won't feature a Zombies mode, a recent mainstay of the franchise. In fact, Modern Warfare is the first game to ship without a Zombies component since 2013's Ghosts, which instead had a mode called Extinction, where players faced off against hordes of hostile aliens.
According to Infinity Ward campaign gameplay director Jacob Minkoff, speaking to PlayStation Lifestyle, the reason for skipping Zombies this year is simple: Modern Warfare aims to be a more realistic shooter than the Black Ops series, which is usually the home of the undead horde mode.
"Because they focus on more of the stylized, graphic novel, super-hero experience, [Black Ops developer Treyarch] can have the much more 'out there' different types of gameplay in their games,...

When the rumors of a space setting began, a backlash started brewing. Then Activision and Infinity Ward revealed the first trailer for "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" yesterday and subsequently all hell has broken loose.
The announcement of the latest entry in the popular game franchise has been met with a not so stellar reception. The trailer has racked up 5.3 million views after debuting yesterday and has drawn a near equal amount of downvotes (148,000) as upvotes (142,000). It's enough that Infinity Ward's design director Jacob Minkoff has had to defend the game:
"The approach that we've been taking with this game... the inspirations don't come from sci-fi or space in any way... The inspirations come from war stories. This is Call of Duty. We are talking about warfare and in this case Infinite Warfare... what we feel is that classically told narratives can take place in any setting."

Come November, Infinity Ward will be shooting for the stars with Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, opening up the final frontier for galactic warfare, space dogfighting and much more.
But just because the developer is pushing the franchise into the distant future doesn’t necessarily mean it’s plunging deep into sci-fi territory. That’s according to Design Director Jacob Minkoff, who spoke to GameSpot about the ways in which Infinity Ward are staying true to the roots of Call of Duty.
That means players won’t be squaring off against alien species in Infinite Warfare; rather, Infinity Ward’s installment is gunning to tell a timeless story that can be enjoyed irrespective of time and setting.
Here, Minkoff noted that the core inspirations behind the game stem from grounded war stories, as opposed to full-blown science fiction.

With the guys behind "The Last of Us" are now in charge, and that initial teaser trailer seemed quite dark, you could be forgiven for thinking Naughty Dog had plans to change the tone of its popular action/adventure game series "Uncharted" to something darker and grimmer than the previous outings.
However, Naughty Dog co-president Evan Wells says that isn't the case. Wells confirms the upcoming fourth and final game in the series, "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End," will retain the light-hearted adventure (with elements of darkness) tone of the previous games rather than using the grim, serious tone of 'Last'. Think more "The Last Crusade" rather than "Temple of Doom":
"Uncharted is a completely different franchise, and appeals to its audience for completely different reasons. I don't think The Last of Us marks a new direction in tone that all of our future games are going to take on.
