Grammy-nominated R&b singer Bj The Chicago Kid has signed with hit producer Yeti Beats’ new label Reach The World Records in a joint venture with Sony’s RCA Records.
Bj The Chicago Kid and Beats — who has worked on hits like Doja Cat’s “Say So,” “Kiss Me More” and “Woman” — are working on a collaborative album that will be released this summer. Their first single, “Forgot Your Name,” drops Wednesday.
“This project is very different for me. It’s essentially the colliding of Yeti’s world with my world. It’s a unique approach to soul music and serves as our invite to both new and old fans to savor our unique flavor of classic soul,” Bj The Chicago Kid tells The Hollywood Reporter in a statement. “I know some folks will call it a concept album, but for me it’s an experiment and exploration of sound...

Baz Luhrmann praises multi-talented musician Doja Cat as he recalls his time working with her on “Elvis”.
“I’ve worked with all kinds of artists, but with a certain few you connect on a deeper level. For me, Doja Cat is one of those artists,” Luhrmann penned for the “Say So” singer’s write-up in Time magazine, in honour of her being named one of the publication’s 100 Most Influential People of 2023.

“She’s at the top because she works to bring everything she does to the highest possible level,” the Oscar-nominated filmmaker continued. “When she started to work on ‘Vegas’ for ‘Elvis’, Elvis was relegated to a Halloween costume—he wasn’t influential to the younger generation. But Doja and her producer Yeti Beats understood the importance of translating ‘Hound Dog’ for a new audience.

The 65th Grammy Awards take place on Sunday 5 February, with music fans preparing for the rematch of the century: Adele vs Beyoncé.
Both artists are up for Album of the Year, six years after Adele took home the top prize for her third record, 25. The win over Beyoncé’s critically adored surprise album Lemonade was highly controversial; Adele herself famously declared that Beyoncé deserved the prize during her acceptance speech.
This year, the British singer is competing with her record-obliterating fourth album, 30, released in 2021. A four-star review in The Independent praised the songs as “handsomely crafted ballads about love and its various agonies”, with Adele’s voice, as ever, the main draw. “Adele possesses that perfectly imperfect voice, gargantuan and frail all at once,” critic Annabel Nugent wrote. “It’s epic without resorting to showy, melismatic affectations. It yawns into unexpected shapes and makes intonation fun.”
Beyoncé, meanwhile, surprised fans...

Doja Cat is a weirdo, but that’s why and how we fell in love with her. Her first big taste of viral fame was, after all, a song about cows. In the years since “Mooo!” the world can’t quite shake one of pop’s preeminent internet trolls (only Lil Nas X can compete). She’s weathered the types of controversies that would force a duller star to dim completely: offensive tweets, “showing feet in racial chat rooms,” bad Covid takes. But if the last year of Doja Cat’s internet,...
