- Married his stepmother's sister, Lynsey, in the summer of 2008, who is 4 years older than him. The couple has 2 daughters - Francesca, born in 2006 and Lauren, in 2010.
- Runs with his father The Veterans Club in Pontycymmer. The club is a combination of a snooker club and a public bar.

- On 25 June 2017 won his first ranking title after defeating Stephen Maguire 5-2 in final of Riga Masters.
- Is one of the fastest players on the main snooker tour. For the 2019-20 season, his average shot time (seconds-per-shot) was 19.55s, with six players recording faster averages.
