Mike Bednarsky

Mike Bednarsky is an American singer-songwriter, poet, and performer, from Shelton, Conn. He is best known as the face of indie pop band Ginkgo Balboa.
In 2008, his children's stage play, Marriage in Sparkledom, was produced by the Performing Arts Center of Connecticut (PACC). In 2013, Bednarsky received a Bachelor of Arts in English (Creative Writing) from the University of Iowa, where he was a member of the institution's reputable Creative Writing Track, as well as its competitive undergraduate poetry and fiction workshops.
Bednarsky has published two poetry chapbooks: Never Any Strings in 2012, and Puppets in a Neighborhood Church House (2016), which was mentioned by name, in the 25th Annual Poets House Showcase Exhibition Catalog, the following year.
He placed third in the poetry contest of the 2016 Jackie Robinson Poetry Day, an annual event held in New York City. In addition to Ginkgo Balboa, Bednarsky has recorded and released several solo music albums, most recently Misspent Youth, in 2020. He resides in Los Angeles.
