Willow Jon
- Producer
Willow Jon Collamer arrived on this earth under the shadow of Mt Shasta
in northern California. As a child he explored the creeks, canyons, and
crevices of his surroundings with reckless abandon. Never a shy child
his exuberant and constant chatter was entertaining to his friends and
family, even if it sometimes exasperated his parents. He spent his
childhood in northern California and Sedona, Arizona. His parents
separated and for a time he was living out of car with his mom, he
later moved up and joined his dad in Bellingham, Washington.
Living in the northwest Willow Jon picked up snowboarding and had many great runs on the slopes of the world famous Mt. Baker. His teenage years saw him develop his love for music and the forming his band KOLA whose pop punk sounds fused with thought provoking lyrics always made the kids dance. Always up for a challenge, Willow Jon at age 19 took on a 32-year incumbent in a local public utility district commissioner race. Though he didn't win it added to his attitude of jumping right in when his interest is peaked. He also spent part of his days getting his hands dirty by fixing his beat up but colorful 1976 Toyota Corona wagon with flames painted on the sides and punk-rock stickers plastered all over the interior.
Willow Jon was able to afford college by first attending community college via running start and then went on to Western Washington University where he embraced his imaginative side and majored in creative writing. After finishing school he traveled throughout the western states working at snow covered ski resorts Vail and Lake Tahoe. At first he had to camp in the woods as he very little cash and didn't know a soul but he soon hooked up with some locals and was working hard. Along the way, he taught snowboarding, served and cooked some fine meals for patrons, and taught special needs children. He traveled around Costa Rica for three months surfing, adventuring, and playing his trusty guitar in bars from one coast to the other.
Starting in 2009 Willow Jon began filming his adventures and travels. He sought out athletes, musicians, artists, and quirky people he met along the way. He calls his self produced series Traveling Exposed/Truth Media. Since 2009 Willow Jon has traveled to Thailand, Cambodia, Loas, Spain, France, Portugal, London, Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, Canada, Mexico, and Hawaii continuing to create short videos, playing music, and living the dream. Willow Jon acted in three 48 hour short film festivals,"A Good Girl," "Stuart Gordon The Last Financial Advisor," and "Sin Aesthetics." He attended the first, "Wild Mind Film Camp" in Twisp, Washington for documentary film makers in 2012. In 2014 Willow Jon was on the Premier of Discovery channels reality survivor show,"Tethered," where he had to survive in the jungle of Panama chained to man for ten days.
