“Project Runway” is down to five designers, but are they the right five? All of the eliminations are decided by judges Karlie Kloss, Elaine Welteroth, Brandon Maxwell and a number of guest judges who have cycled through over the course of the season. But while mentor Christian Siriano is able to guide the designers over the course of each challenge, he wasn’t given a Save like his predecessor Tim Gunn. Was that a mistake? Scroll down to vote in our poll at the bottom of this post.
Gunn didn’t get to critique the designers’ finished looks or decide the eliminations either. But he had something just as valuable: the Tim Gunn Save. Given his expertise and his close working relationships with the designers, he was given the power to overrule a judges’ decision and rescue one contestant from elimination, starting in season 12. And some of those saves turned out to be quite fruitful.

After 12 episodes of “Project Runway All Stars” season 6, the show is down to its 3 finalists: Fabio Costa, Stanley Hudson and Anthony Williams. But what about the 13 contestants who came and went along the way? Our readers didn’t see eye-to-eye with the judges about multiple eliminations, so if they had their say we might have ended up with quite a different finale lineup. Which eliminated contestant would you most like to bring back to the show? Scroll down to vote in our poll at the bottom of this post.
The elimination that shocked “Runway” fans the most was arguably Amanda Valentine, who according to our early polling was the front-runner to win the entire season. She went out in 11th place in “Fashion’s New Superheroes,” and an overwhelming majority of our readers thought the judges made the wrong call. It was the best of times for Edmond Newton, but then it was the worst of times. He was eliminated in Thursday night’s episode, “Nina’s Crushing It,” just one week after winning the design challenge in “Rock Your Face Off.” Do you think the judges were right to send him home in fifth place, or should he have advanced to the final four? Scroll down to vote in our poll at the bottom of this post.
“Nina’s Crushing It” brought on Marie Claire fashion director and “Project Runway” original series judge Nina Garcia to give the designers their assignment for the week: to create a resort look inspired by different levels in the “Candy Crush Saga” mobile game. Newton admitted that he had no familiarity with the game, so when the five designers played to decide who got their top choice of “Candy Crush” levels. Newton finished...

“Project Runway All Stars” eliminated Helen Castillo in Thursday night’s episode, “Rock Your Face Off.” That leaves five designers in the competition: Fabio Costa, Stanley Hudson, Ken Laurence, Edmond Newton and Anthony Williams. All five of them are men, which is not only unusual but historic. This is the first time one gender has swept the top five in the history of “Runway” — not just the 6 seasons of “All Stars,” but also the 16 seasons of the original series.
It’s all the more surprising in this season of “All Stars” because the women actually started out with the numbers advantage. There were an even 16 contestants at the start of the competition, but 9 were women while only 7 were men. However, over the course of the last 10 episodes all 9 women were eliminated compared to only 2 men who suffered the same fate. Carlos Casanova was booted in the season premiere, and then...

Our readers have been at odds with the judges for a while this season on “Project Runway All Stars,” objecting to many of the recent eliminations like Amanda Valentine, Char Glover and Kimberly Goldson. But when the judges decided to send home Merline Labissiere in “Mizrahi Madness” our readers agreed. Scroll down for the complete poll results at the bottom of this post.
Labissiere was the right choice for elimination according to almost three-quarters of “Runway” fans who voted in our poll (74%). Judge Isaac Mizrahi, whose own artwork and designs inspired the challenge, said Labissiere’s architectural look “didn’t come across,” and Alyssa Milano thought it was forced. It wasn’t all bad, though. Guest judge Carmen Dell’Orefice said, “There was something in the back [of the design] that told me she has design in her.” And Georgina Chapman gave her credit “for giving us an intention and pushing the boundaries.

Helen Castillo is the last woman standing in season six of “Project Runway All Stars.” Is there a chance she could win the whole competition, or is she doomed to be eliminated just like every other woman on the show?
The season started with 16 contestants: 9 women and 7 men. After 8 episodes the show is down to 1 woman and 6 men. Carlos Casanova was eliminated in the season premiere episode, but then the women were picked off one-by-one: Kelly Dempsey in “Damsels in Distress,” then Ari South and Melissa Fleis in “Perfect Pairings,” Candice Cuoco in “Balls Out,” Amanda Valentine in “Fashion’s New Superheroes,” Char Glover in “Thrown for a Loop by Betty Boop,” Kimberly Goldson in “A Kick in the Astro” and Merline Labissiere in “Mizrahi Madness.”

The roller-coaster ride is over for Merline Labissiere. During her eight episodes on “Project Runway All Stars” she had what might have been the most inconsistent run for any contestant on the show. But that ended in “Mizrahi Madness” when the judges threw her off that roller coaster at top speed. She was eliminated in eighth place. Do you think the judges made the right call? Scroll down to vote in our poll at the bottom of this post.
Perhaps Labissiere’s ouster is actually overdue. After “Fashion’s New Superheroes” our readers thought she should have been eliminated instead of Amanda Valentine. Then in “Thrown for a Loop by Betty Boop” she was also our readers’ choice for elimination, but it was Char Glover who was sent packing. I’ll admit, though, that I agreed with the judges this time around after a few weeks of what I thought were dubious selections — for instance,...

Another one bites the dust — and by that I mean, yet another woman is eliminated on “Project Runway All Stars,” the seventh in a row out of eight eliminations thus far. Kimberly Goldson was eliminated from the show in episode seven, “A Kick in the Astro,” even though it was the first time she had even gotten a low score from the judges. She actually got high scores in “Perfect Pairings” and “Balls Out.” So did she really deserve to be sent home in this avant garde challenge? Vote in our poll at the bottom of this post to let us know.
Goldson seemed to know she was in trouble early on. She said she wasn’t intimidated by the cosmic avant garde challenge even though it was outside her comfort zone. She decided to take her inspiration from neutron stars with colors of orange, yellow and gold. But as...

Two weeks after the elimination of Char Glover from “Project Runway All Stars” in the unique, cartoon-inspired challenge “Thrown for a Loop by Betty Boop,” the fashion design spin-off returned with its seventh episode of season six, “A Kick in the Astro.” And if the designers thought their distressed challenge and unconventional-materials challenge were tough, this time around they had to go for broke and unleash their unbridled creativity in an avant garde challenge judged by guest stars RuPaul Charles and Jesse Tyler Ferguson. So who thought outside of the box and who got, well, a swift kick in the astro? Scroll down for our complete minute-by-minute recap.

“Project Runway All Stars” fans weren’t pleased when judges Alyssa Milano, Isaac Mizrahi and Georgina Chapman decided to eliminate Amanda Valentine in “Fashion’s New Superheroes.” Up until that point our users thought Valentine would win the season, and 93% of respondents thought she deserved to stay in the competition. So after Char Glover was eliminated the following week in “Thrown for a Loop by Betty Boop” we asked our readers again if the judges made the right call, but it looks like the judges missed the mark again. Scroll down to the bottom of this post for the complete poll results.
Glover’s elimination wasn’t quite as controversial as Valentine’s. This time only 64% of readers thought the judges were off base — a mere two-thirds. That left 36% who thought Glover truly had the worst design, and Glover might not even disagree with that assessment as she admitted to...

Stanley Hudson had a slow start in “Project Runway All Stars” season six, narrowly avoiding elimination in the second week of competition. But he found his groove by episode four, “Balls Out,” when he won an unconventional-materials challenge. Then he got another high score in the most recent episode, “Thrown for a Loop by Betty Boop.” Nevertheless, our users think he’s the likeliest to be eliminated in episode seven. Do you agree?
As of this writing Hudson gets leading odds of 9/4, which translates to a 30.61% chance of elimination based on the combined predictions of “Project Runway” fans we poll every week for their picks (you can make your picks too right here before tonight’s show). But this isn’t the first time our users thought Hudson was a goner. In fact, he was predicted to be eliminated the very week he won the “Balls Out” challenge. So now...

After six weeks of competition Anthony Williams is still the front-runner to win “Project Runway All Stars” season six with leading odds of 6/5. He has actually improved his lead over his closest challenger Fabio Costa, who ranks second in our predictions with 3/1 odds as of this writing. Do you agree that one of them will win the competition?
Our odds are based on the combined predictions of “Project Runway” fans who make their picks every week in our predictions center, and those leading odds for Williams translate to a 45.69% chance of winning. Those are his best odds yet, up from last week when he had 8/5 odds, or a 38.57% chance of coming out on top. So far Williams hasn’t gotten a single low score from the judges. He’s been one of the highest scoring contestants in three of the first six design challenges, including a victory in episode two,...

The “Project Runway All Stars” designers were indeed “Thrown for a Loop by Betty Boop” on Thursday night, when the 10 remaining designers had to create a youthful Hollywood look for the iconic cartoon characters. The judges were baffled by the decisions made by some of the designers in this competition, but for them the worst of all was Char Glover, who took a chance on neoprene fabric for her dress. Even Glover knew that it was ultimately the wrong choice, and the judges didn’t think it reflected Betty Boop either, but did she really deserve to be eliminated from the competition? Scroll down to vote in our poll at the bottom of this post.
“Honestly I’m not proud of this design,” Glover admitted as her dress made its way down the runway, and the judges agreed. “I love the color,” said host Alyssa Milano, “but I have to say that’s it.

Season six of “Project Runway All Stars” is ostensibly a battle between veterans who have appeared on “All Stars” before and rookies who are competing in this spin-off series for the first time. However, after five weeks of competition we’ve seen a different competitive split: between men and women. And it’s not looking good for the women so far. The female designers have been dropping like flies.
The season started with 16 designers overall: 7 men and 9 women. But the early results have been lopsided. Five out of six eliminations thus far have been women, while five of the six design challenge winners have been men. At least one of those eliminations was a surprise: Amanda Valentine was the front-runner to win the competition according to our racetrack odds going into “Fashion’s New Superheroes,” but she was eliminated, which 93% of our readers disagreed with. She followed Kelly Dempsey who...

Is Merline Labissiere at risk of elimination in episode four of “Project Runway All Stars” tonight? He gets leading odds of 17/10, which translates to a 36.75% chance of going home.

If it were up to us, "Project Runway" would never be "out," it would just play on a loop 24/7/365.
Sadly, Season 14 will say auf wiedersehen on Thursday, November 5th, so now seems like a good time to take stock and rank the previous 13 seasons, with the expectation that the 2015 season will probably fall somewhere in the middle of the pack once it's done. (Tim Gunn "hated" Season 14, but there have been worse.) Every season of PR is a precious, unique little rhinestone, but, like the judges, we have our favorites -- and now it's Our turn to be biased.
So here's our very subjective but still definitive worst-to-best ranking, which may only be challenged by a glare from Nina Garcia, an eye roll from Michael Kors, a "make it work" from Tim Gunn, or an "out" from Heidi Klum.
13. Season 11 (aka 'Teams')Maybe it seemed like a good, or at least dramatic,...

Part one of the two-part "Project Runway" finale began with the final four designers – Char Glover, Kini Zamora, Amanda Valentine, and Sean Kelly – being flown to Rome, Italy, to take inspiration from one of the most historically rich countries in the world. Kelly took inspiration for his 10-piece collection from the rise and fall of Julius Caesar, but it was another designer who felt the sting of the judges' daggers. -Break- … And no, it wasn't Char. Psst: Here's how to predict reality TV shows and win bragging rights And prizes! Glover has struggled throughout the season, coming back from elimination after being resurrected by the Tim Gunn Save. Tim Gunn's unique role as "Project Runway" mentor, for which he won the Reality Host Emmy with Heidi Klum in 2013, gives him the ability to influence the competition in often unexpected ways. Do you think he has used that power wisely this season? -Break- Psst: Here's how to predict reality TV shows and win bragging rights And prizes! His greatest privilege is the Tim Gunn Save, his one-time-only veto that allows him to overrule the judges' elimination. He used that power in the middle of the season after the "Rock Wedding" challenge, when Char Glover had a disastrous week partnering with Sandhya Garg and was sent home. His decision to bring her back has had a clear influence on the season: she's now in the final four. But he also influences the competition with his critiques, which give designers much needed confidence about their work or nudges them in a different direction.
