Prashanth Naidu Gunasekaran is a New Zealand Film Director and Actor, living in Hamilton, NZ. He was born and raised in Klang, Malaysia and moved to New Zealand at the age if sixteen. He studied at Otago University, graduating from a double degree in BSC Microbiology and Theatre studies and subsequently as a Physiotherapist from Auckland University of Technology. Prashanth started in theatre as a child actor and eventually did mainstream theatre in NZ and transitioned to screen acting. Over the last decade, Prashanth had gained a key interest in Directing, making is directing debut on a indie film Destina (2013). From there, he had made numerous short films and co-directed up coming Stranded Pearl (2024).
Prashanth is known for the films he has directed, and produced Bing Bang Blussey, My Rock, Last Star, Irumanam (2017), Bing Bang Blussey, with upcoming films The Trade (NZ 2023), For Thom, Stranded Pearl (2024).
Prashanth began performing in small productions as a young boy. Soon enough, he landed a role in an Internationally acclaimed Stage Production, Truth Needs a Hero which was performed in India by Dr Suresh Govind (2002). He picked up drama in high school and furthering his studies in acting and directing at the University of Otago. During this time, he performed numerous plays, Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing won him the best supporting actor award at the Sheila Win Shakespeare Festival. Though he is very fond of being in front of the camera, he has found his true calling behind the lenses of a creative world e.g. Destina (2013), Urban Turban (2014), T-Junction 'Dil Na Jaane' (2016), My One and Only (2015), & Don't 'F' with Me (2022). He founded PG6 Creations and co-founded P2D Productions in New Zealand and collaborates with MNC Films Studios. Rising Pheonix Films and Taxi Clubs Films.
