Makers of 'Kaithi' respond to Kerala court's injunction against remake and sequel
ControversyAccording to reports, a man named Rajeev, who spent time in Chennai’s Puzhal Central Prison, has said that the story of ‘Kaithi’ was based on his experience. In the statement, Dream Warrior Pictures, the production house that bankrolled the movie, wrote, “We learnt from several media reports that the Kerala court has issued an injunction against Kaithi being remade in Hindi/ the sequel being produced. Media outlets have also reached out to us regarding the same.” The production house said that they do not have details pertaining to the case and hence cannot comment on the issue. Sathish Kumar from Saligramam in Chennai has filed a petition in court alleging that the title Visithiran was registered by his production house Csk Productions at the Film and Television Producers Guild of South India in 2015 and he has been renewing it until March 2020. Claiming that the title belongs to his production house, Sathish Kumar has filed the case following which the judge hearing it ordered that notices be sent to producer Bala and co-producer Rk Suresh. Ajay Devgn and Katrina Kaif to play lead in Hindi remake of ‘Kaithi’?
KollywoodThe Hindi version of the film, to be directed by Jagan Shakthi, is tentatively titled ‘Ikka’.Digital NativeKarthi starrer Khaithi, one of the biggest hits in the Tamil film industry, will have Ajay Devgn playing the lead in the Hindi version, tentatively titled Ikka. Katrina Kaif is expected to play the female lead. Interestingly, Khaithi only had a fleeting presence of a heroine in the flashback. However, in the Hindi version, filmmakers are planning on enhancing the female lead’s role and talks are on with Katrina Kaif to play the role. The Hindi remake will be directed by Jagan Shakthi, who has earlier directed the Akshay Kumar starrer Mission Mangal. Khaithi, an action thriller film written and directed by Lokesh Kanaraj, starred Karthi, Narain and George Maryan. 'Kaithi' review: A gripping tale of men imprisoned by their circumstances
