Pia Ilonka is a filmmaker and visual anthropologist originating from Norway. After completing her Bachelors degree in film and TV production, she worked for several years for Norwegian national television and radio, before embarking on a masters degree in Visual Anthropology at the University of Berlin. From then onward she has been writing and directing short films and documentaries, some of which have been screened in competition and shows such as the Chantal Akerman retrospective in London, the Live Art festival at the Taiwan Art Museum, the Freiburg film festival in Germany, the Cinemateque of Bogotá and Mexico City and more. Her works have been acquired by the Norwegian national archives, and her latest work Hungarian Lullaby was chosen to compete for best Norwegian documentary in 2017. Pia's work can be recognized by it's playful visual language and real life subjects. She resides in Mexico City.
