TelevisaUnivision powered to its highest third-quarter revenue total in the U.S. to date, up 5% year-over-year, as overall global revenue increased 11% to $1.28 billion.
The Spanish-language media company also touted growth of streaming service ViX to more than 40 million monthly active users and said the direct-to-consumer segment was on track to become profitable in mid-2024.
Q3 advertising revenue was up 11%, to $777 million, which TelevisaUnivision attributed to record-setting sales for the Concacaf Gold Cup soccer tournament and 20th anniversary of tentpole music awards show Premios Juventud, which aired July 20 from Puerto Rico. In the U.S., however, ad sales declined 1% year-over-year.
Subscription and licensing revenue jumped 18%, to $473 million. Growth in both the U.S. and Mexico was driven by ViX’s premium tier, pricing growth on linear subscribers and increased content licensing revenue driven by demand for ViX premium content. (The company does not break out the number of ViX premium subscriptions.

Mexico’s pop princesses Sofía Reyes and Danna Paola are joining forces for their newest single. On Friday, the two stars released “Tqum,” or “I love you a ton,” and it’s silly video, which captures the two crossing paths on the unluckiest flight imaginable.
“Whenever I fly, I get vulnerable. I start to reflect, miss people, or feel inspired,” Reyes tells Rolling Stone about the song. “The song is about remembering the person you used to be with and how you miss him and want to be back with him.

Diplo will DJ an event sponsored by a billionaire’s campaign for mayor of Los Angeles. On Friday, the controversial musician will headline a show at Los Angeles’ El Rey Theatre, where Republican-turned-Democrat property developer Rick Caruso is set to speak ahead of the highly contested local election next Tuesday.
The concert is being marketed just as a “Get Out to Vote” event, though Caruso, a former Republican running as a Democrat, is the only mayoral candidate sponsoring the event, and the four other organizations listed as sponsors have endorsed him.

In our Q&a series Last Call, we get down to the bottom of every last thing with some of our favorite celebs - from the last thing they texted to the last thing they binge-watched. This week, Mexican singer Sofía Reyes takes our call.
While most of us were staying home the past few months binge-watching new TV shows or baking bread, Mexican singer-songwriter Sofía Reyes has been hard at work, recording not one but two new songs: "Cuando Estás Tu," which she released back in June, and her latest single, "Échalo Pa'Ca." To celebrate her new music, we chatted with Sofía about recording the tracks, the last piece of advice that changed her life, and more!
What was the last day recording "Échalo Pa'Ca" like?
I mean, recording the song took a couple months because I was waiting for Lalo [Ebratt] and Darell to record their vocals, and I couldn't be more excited!

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital together with Univision radio stations across 15 media markets raised $4.7 million dollars during this year’s Promesa y Esperanza (Promise and Hope) radio event held on Dec. 5 and 6.
