- Using his birth name as his stage name, Donnell E. Smith was born and raised in Baltimore, MD, to LaVerne Williams and John E. Smith. Growing up, he always had a creative energy that preceded him, from Visual to Performing Artistry. Though acting didn't take precedence until his early adulthood, his love of movies and the idea of performing to make people laugh and sing-along, helped him prepare for that journey. In elementary school, he played the Volin and Viola, while in middle and high schools, he studied Mass Communications and Visual Arts. Acting came along, not long after leaving college studies of Mechanical Engineering to pursue music in Atlanta, GA. It was then and there, that he began to fully realize the full extent of his imagination and creativity. Nowadays, you can and will find Donnell doing just that, from the stage to the camera, from writing and singing to dancing and acting.- IMDb Mini Biography By: D.Smith

- [On the intensity of his true laugh] It's embarrassing, but it is what it is. Once it's activated, there's no turning back. I've lost roommates and have been asked to leave a couple of restaurants because of it ha ha. It has helped me book work though...
- [On getting robbed for the first time, four months after moving to NYC] Man, improv saved my life that night. I didn't know what they were carrying or why they decided not to cover their faces, but I know I didn't want to look at them. I worked up enough anger to sell this elaborate story just so they wouldn't take my metro pass. They could've had anything but that. The crazy this is that they ended up giving everything back to me and actually apologizing for "robbing another struggling brotha," hahaha.
- I get to wake up and do something I truly love to do, and I can never take that for granted. It really does take a degree of courage to pursue a passion, against all odds and opposition, and see dreams become realities. It's not the easiest journey, but by far very worth every step of the way.
- I've never been a 9-5 kind of guy, so I had to turn that world into my personal rehearsal space. My co-workers would say, "Man, you can't really be doing that," and I would always say "they knew what they were getting into when they hired me" ha ha.
