In 2021 she published her autobiography "Heart Of Fire: An Immigrant Daughter's Story".
Started her political career in Hawai'i as a member of the Hawai'i House of Representatives before becoming Lieutenant Governor of Hawai'i. She was then elected Congresswoman in the U.S. House of Representatives before becoming a U.S. Senator.
