Scott Elliott and Sid Sadowskyj recreate their teenage years in a film that suffers from inadequate script, acting and direction
Scott and Sid is an independent film avowedly inspired by the teenage years of its two writer-directors, former ad creatives Scott Elliott and Sid Sadowskyj: two kids are growing up together in Yorkshire, dreaming big dreams and planning one day to make a movie.
The production standards are solid enough, but frankly the script, acting and directing are deeply uncertain and misjudged, with huge tonal lurches that make for something that’s neither funny nor convincing on any level, and just wouldn’t come up to the standard of the humblest TV drama or comedy.

“Be not afraid of greatness. Some are born great, some achieve greatness and others have greatness thrust upon them”
Scott and Sid is the (slightly fictionalised) true tale of two young boys meeting for the first time, knowing they could never be friends because they are simply too different from each other. One is a foster kid who doesn’t get on with his foster father, has been to five different schools within the space of four years, a troublemaker and a dreamer. The other is a nerdy teen who just wants to be normal, to make friends and not have to put up with his drunken state of a mother anymore. When Scott turns up at Sid’s school and there’s no seat for him except the one next to Scott, Sid kindly offers him it. However odd the combination of the two boys are, it marks the start of something beautiful.

A promising British feature by the name of Scott & Sid lands in March. Here's the trailer...
This one looks promising. Scott & Sid is a new British feature, written and directed by Scott Elliott and Sid Sadowsky. And as you may gleam from its title, it’s based on their life story. The pair become ‘dreamchasers’, and the film will bring their story to cinemas on March 9th, ahead of a digital and DVD release the following Monday.
It’s just the kind of film that can use the oxygen of publicity, repostings and so forth. Here, then, is the trailer and the official synopsis. And if you like it, do consider passing it on…

"It's a pattern! We're born into this system..." An official trailer has arrived for an eccentric, offbeat British drama about two schoolboys who become friends and chase bigger dreams, titled Scott and Sid. This is the first time we've heard anything about this film, which doesn't seem to have shown up at many film festivals but is opening in cinemas in March (at least in the UK). Directed by the real life "Scott and Sid", Scott Elliott and Sid Sadowskyj, the film stars Richard Mason as Scott and Tom Blyth as Sid. It seems to be a story about the power of friendship, and how these two misfits were able to inspire and push each other to achieve more than they were ever supposed to, growing up as underachievers. This actually looks fairly good, it's a solid trailer and seems to be a straightforward coming-of-age drama with strong performances. Take a look.
