Kari was born with Cystic Fibrosis - a genetic disease with no known cure that affects more than 70,000 worldwide. Many people are hospitalized for a number of weeks every year from CF due to lung infections. The lung infections often lead to a permanent loss of lung function.
Kari was listed for a double lung transplant in June 2015, and moved to Pittsburgh with her father Rick, and fiancé Bradley.
Kari and Bradley married on August 28, 2015 in an intimate ceremony in her hospital room at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC). Kari passed away later that day due to complication from Cystic Fibrosis - the disease she had battled her entire life.
She now breathes easy, and Bradley can't wait for the day he can hold her once more. Kari will forever be his muse, his love, his best friend, his soulmate, and his biggest inspiration. Forever and always.
Kari continues to be a bright light in the CF community, and continues to touch the hearts of all her family, friends and loved ones. She truly makes the world a better place. Even people whom have never met her admire her strength, courage, beauty, grace, intelligence and spirit. She will always be remembered as one of God's greatest warriors.
