One day after Joey Chestnut’s bombshell banishment from the 2024 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest, Netflix has announced that the champion glizzy gobbler will finally face his longtime, but estranged rival, Takeru Kobayashi, in a special one-on-one match.
The aptly-titled bout, “Chestnut vs. Kobayashi: Unfinished Beef,” will stream live on Netflix on Labor Day, Sept. 2 (an exact time and location will be announced later). This will be the first time in 15 years that the two championship eaters will face each other in a hot dog eating contest. Kobayashi,...

Chaos has consumed the world of competitive eating after 16-time Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest winner Joey Chestnut was banned from this year’s competition over his new sponsorship deal with Impossible Foods, a rival purveyor of plant-based franks.
Major League Eating confirmed the ban in a statement shared on social media. The statement said the organization was “devastated” (devastated!) to learn that Chestnut had “chosen to represent a rival brand that sells plant-based hot dogs rather than competing in the 2024 Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July Hot Dog Eating Contest.

Sixteen-time champion Joey Chestnut has been banned from Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest in a beef over sponsorship. It seems the folks at Major League Eating, which oversees the contest, didn’t think his reported deal with Impossible Foods was kosher.
“We are devastated to learn that Joey Chestnut has chosen to represent a rival brand that sells plant-based hot dogs rather than competing in the 2024 Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July Hot Dog Eating Contest,” Mle said in a statement.
Chestnut has won the coveted Mustard Belt — handed out to the person who eats the most hot dogs each July 4 — for eight years running and in 16 of the past 17 years. The only break in his reign came in 2015, when Matt Stonie took the title.
Not having Chestnut at this year’s event would be a big blow. He ate 62 hot dogs and buns at last year’s event.

The latest YouTube Original series is also the most adorable cooking competition I've ever seen. BuzzFeed's Tasty channel has released the first episode of The Big Tiny Food Face-Off, in which tiny chefs prepare tiny dishes to serve to tiny eaters (i.e. hamsters).
When I say the chefs in The Big Tiny Food Face-Off are themselves tiny, I'm referring to their relative youth: All of the competitors who will grace this season of the show are between the ages of 11 and 15. In each episode, three of those juvenile chefs engage in a culinary battle in hopes of impressing the hosts with their miniature courses. BuzzFeed producer Inga Lam co-hosts the Face-Off alongside a man who is known for his ability to chow down: Competitive eater Matt Stonie. Here, the YouTube star is tasting dishes that are much snackier than the fare he's famous for consuming.

ESPN’s annual tradition of broadcasting Joey Chestnut stuffing his face for his country suffered a tragic mishap this year, as the sports network’s broadcast of the Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest suddenly lost its video feed right as the reigning champion set a new world record.
Videos of the broadcast shared on Twitter showed the competition’s video feed cutting out right as Chestnut finished his record 76th hot dog, beating his previous high for the most consumed in 10 minutes. Chestnut has now won the Nathan’s title in 14 of the last 15 years, losing only once to Matt Stonie in an upset in 2015.
But instead of the usual tongue-in-cheek praises of Chestnut’s heroic digestive system, Twitter was filled with outrage that the historic moment had been ruined by technical difficulties…along with a few “Infinity War” references.
ESPN: Mr. Stark, I don’t feel so good…...

Zach “Zhc” Hsieh, a popular YouTube creator and artist, has been tapped as the host for Season 2 of YouTube’s “Instant Influencer” competition series, which promises one up-and-coming artist a $100,000 cash prize.
Last month YouTube confirmed that James Charles, the beauty vlogger who hosted the first season of “Instant Influencer,” would not return to host Season 2. That came after Charles had been accused of “grooming” a 16-year-old online; Charles called the accusation “completely false.”
The “Instant Influencer” Season 2 with Zhc will run for eight episodes, up from four in Season 1, and is slated to debut later in 2021.
In Season 2, a group of 10 contestants — artists selected by Zhc and his producing partners — will compete for the title of “Instant Influencer” and the $100,000 prize. Casting kicks off Thursday (April 15) and aspiring contestants can apply to be on the show (at this link) during the next two weeks; applicants must be 18 and older and live in the U.

The Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest on ESPN didn’t hit an all-time low in TV ratings this year, but the annual July 4 special was unable to crack one million total viewers.
Saturday’s socially distanced version of the Coney Island staple averaged 966,000 viewers, which is the lowest draw for an initial airing of the contest since 2005. Back then, the niche “sport” received 860,000 viewers.
At the time, the new-to-tv contest was in its cultural infancy, and was dominated by Japanese eater Takeru Kobayashi. It is now much more mainstream.

This year, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the event was held indoors with plexiglass partitions between the “athletes” and their gross work stations. Travel restrictions narrowed the field of competitors to only five men and five women. Americans Joey Chestnut and Miki Sudo won — again.

You know that big ass steer in Australia that went viral for being the biggest freakin' thing you've ever seen? Major League Eating -- the competitive eating org that brought you food-guzzling superstars like Joey Chestnut, Matt Stonie and Takeru Kobayashi -- wants to eat him. Fruit By The Foot was one of my favorite school lunch treats growing up, and I probably have eaten a good deal of it throughout my life. Even so, I’m not sure I’ve eaten 324 feet worth, and certainly not in an hour’s time like Matt Stonie does in the video below.
This guy is an eating monster and I’m continually surprised by how he manages to do these crazy challenges!
Watch him construct this beastly creation and then devour it in about an hour’s time below.

Matt Stonie is an eating machine, and he's proven it once again by devouring 4 full boxes of Fruity Pebbles ceral and 7/8ths of a gallon of milk in just under 14 minutes! I'm not sure how this guy manages to do this so consistently without making himself miserable or needing to be hospitalized for a food blockage! Watch in amazement as he devours the bowl, and let us know the most you've ever eaten of something:...

Competitive eater Matt Stonie has done some pretty insane challenges for the internet, but this by far has to be one of the craziest. Matt recreated the order from Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle, and then polished off the entire order by himself in just over 15 minutes.
Let me just make this clear to anyone who has never been to a White Castle, it's ok at best. Basically, if you've been to a Krystal, you've been to White Castle, and while I've never experienced the aftermath of eating Krystal's, I can personally say eating White Castle can be brutal on the gut. Hopefully Stonie was feeling alright after this one, because I know I wouldn't be!
Check out Stonie eat an entire Crave Case (30 burgers), 4 large Cherry Cokes, and four large fries all in one sitting. ...
