Gus Drake was born in Seattle. Being half-Dutch, he spent most summers in Europe.
Discovered at age 15 by a model scout, he was soon after working in New York, Paris and Milan - shooting for publications and clients such as Italian Vogue, Karl Lagerfeld and Diesel.
From an early age, Gus has been obsessed with cinema, watching and re-watching the films of Antonioni, Fellini, Godard, Truffaut, Fassbinder, Bela Tarr, Buñuel, as well as the American 'Golden Age, Film Noir and the '70s New Hollywood. At the moment, Gus has a deep affinity with contemporary masters such as Joanna Hogg, Ulrich Seidl, Lucretia Martel and others.
For years, Gus has studied the Meisner acting technique with Greg Gilmore and Steven Ditmeyer. In addition, he is evolving a wild 'performance' training regime derived from the techniques of Jerzy Grotowski, Eugenio Barba, and Peter Brook, which also includes dance and extreme physical endurance.
At the moment, Gus is attending the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague in Holland, all the while writing, acting and directing his own small films.
