This article contains spoilers through Stranger Things season 4 and The Walking Dead.
To kill or not to kill? This is the question so many shows with large ensemble casts wrestle with as the tensions rise and the stakes become fatal deeper into the series. The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones took great pleasure in cutting down leading players like blades of grass in the springtime sun. It kept viewers on their toes, but it also hindered the strength of the respective casts. When too many fan favorites are whacked, it tests the loyalty of the people watching at home and the skills of the writers and directors to form a coherent story with the crumbs that remain.
Stranger Things weighs in on the other end of the spectrum. The Duffer Brothers have kept essentially every cherished character locked into the show from the debut season to the most recent one.

An uncanny understanding of character dynamics and superior cast chemistry have made Stranger Things the defining science fiction drama of the last decade. Although fans love the special effects and evil enemies omnipresent in the series, showrunners the Duffer brothers have always grounded the story in character development. Mike’s (Finn Wolfhard) and Will’s (Noah Schnapp) potential romance, Eleven’s (Millie Bobby Brown) backstory as a lab rat, and Hopper’s quest for fatherhood have all amalgamated into an irresistible mix of plotting that feels novelistic and addicting for viewers.

When we watch a TV show, we become attached to the characters we see on screen. We start caring about them like if they were real, we give them advice sitting on our couches and we root for them, too. It’s only natural if you have even a little note of compassion in you.
However, sometimes our beloved characters die on screen, and of course that makes us feel sad. And while some TV shows have no way of bringing back fallen characters, some, like soap operas or fantasy dramas, have a reputation for being able to do so.
With the news that Stranger Things season 5 already started production, fans are even more passionate about sharing their views on what the upcoming season would bring to them. There were a lot of talks about the desire to bring back, for example, Eddie Munson, played by Joseph Quinn.

After being delayed several months by the writers strike and the actors strike, season 5 of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things finally went into production at the start of the year and is now three months into its twelve month shooting schedule… but in the midst of filming, Finn Wolfhard is also doing the press rounds to promote the Ghostbusters: Afterlife sequel Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, which is set to reach theatres on March 22nd. An interview with The Hollywood Reporter was part of his press tour, and during that conversation, Wolfhard was asked about the ongoing production of Stranger Things season 5, which will also be the final season of the show. Since this is how it wraps up, it seems fitting that Wolfhard said it will be a return of the dynamics of the first season.

After being delayed several months by the writers strike and the actors strike, season 5 of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things finally went into production at the start of the year – and it’s going to continue making its way through production for quite a while longer, as new cast member Linda Hamilton has said that filming is going to take an entire year. So we’re not going to see this season, which is the final season of the show, until sometime in 2025… and star Millie Bobby Brown is looking forward to the premiere date with excitement, because she says the final episodes are going to be “unbelievable.”
Speaking with Screen Rant, Brown said, “There’s not much I can tease, but I know everybody’s super excited. I just think if you’ve loved the seasons before, you trust the Duffers. They’re geniuses, and they’ll bring it like no other.

After being delayed several months by the writers strike and the actors strike, season 5 of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things finally went into production at the start of the year – but if you were hoping that might mean the new episodes will be available to watch on Netflix by the end of 2024, or even at the beginning of 2025, new cast member Linda Hamilton is here to dash those hopes. While speaking to Business Insider, Hamilton said Stranger Things season 5 will be filming for an entire year!
Hamilton said, “It’s a year of shooting, so I couldn’t be happier. Their season takes a year to shoot, which is just an unheard-of luxury of time. But the size of their day is also so beyond any scale that we’re used to.“

One of the new characters introduced in season 4 of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things was Argyle, a pothead delivery boy for Surfer Boy Pizza who helps some of the returning characters get from California back to their hometown of Hawkins, Indiana. But if you were hoping to see actor Eduardo Franco reprise the role of Argyle in Stranger Things season 5, which will be the final season of the show… well, it sounds like you’re in for disappointment. During an interview on the Steve Varley YouTube channel, Franco said it doesn’t look like he’ll be back for the new season.

After an eight month delay that was caused by the writers strike, the actors strike, and the holiday break, Stranger Things season 5 – which is the last season of the hit Netflix series – has finally gone into production. A couple days ago, Netflix celebrated the start of production by sharing a behind-the-scenes picture of the cast hanging out with series creators the Duffer Brothers, and now they have gone a step further by sharing a picture of Maya Hawke and Joe Keery on set, back in character as Robin Buckley and Steve Harrington! The image of Hawke and Keery / Robin and Steve can be seen at the bottom of this article.

The fifth and final season of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things was just about to start filming when the writers strike hit back in May. A couple months into that strike, the Screen Actors Guild also went on strike – and while the writers strike ended in September, the actors strike continued on into November. Following the six month delay, Netflix decided to wait out the holidays before getting Stranger Things season 5 rolling… but now they have officially confirmed that production is finally underway! They celebrated the start of production by unveiling of a behind-the-scenes image of the cast with series creators The Duffer Brothers, and you can check out that image at the bottom of this article.

The fifth and final season of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things was just about to start filming when the writers strike hit back in May. But now that the writers strike – and the actors strike that followed it – has come to an end, series creators The Duffer Brothers are preparing to head into production on Stranger Things season 5 at the start of January. But as they get ready to start filming, they took a moment to talk to The Guardian… and while the conversation was primarily about the stage play Stranger Things: The First Shadow, they also mentioned that the new season of the show will be like “season 1 on steroids” and the biggest the show has ever been.
Matt Duffer told The Guardian, “This season – it’s like season one on steroids. It’s the biggest it’s ever been in terms of scale, but it has been really fun,...

But now that the writers strike – and the actors strike that followed it – has come to an end, production is gearing up, and Deadline hears that Stranger Things season 5 is finally going to go into production in January. Last week, Stranger Things cast member David Harbour said he expected to start filming season 5 of the hit Netflix series – which will also be the final season of the show – in “a couple days”. But first he had to make an appearance at Motor City Comic Con, and during the show he confirmed that season 5 has “a very real ending” that wraps up the story.
Harbour said (with thanks to Deadline for sharing his comment), “The beauty of it is, there’s a real ending. Stranger Things will end in a very real way. … The storyline of Stranger Things, from where we started with the Upside Down and that lab, to where we’re going in season 5 is one complete story, and it’s gonna end at the final episode of season 5.” He acknowledged that there’s still room for spin-offs and prequel stories like the stage play Stranger Things: The First Shadow,...

The fifth and final season of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things was supposed to go into production right around the time the writers strike hit earlier this year – so it had to be put on hold, and then there was another reason for it to stay on hold when the actors strike hit. When the writers strike ended in September, finishing the Stranger Things season 5 scripts was one of Netflix’s top priorities. And now that the actors strike has come to an end, Stranger Things season 5 is finally about to head into production. In fact, cast member David Harbour says it’s going to start filming in just a couple days!
Variety caught to Harbour at a BoxLunch Gala honoring Feeding America. When asked what comes first on his post-strike agenda, he said, “I mean, we got to film that last season of Stranger Things, don’t we?...

Season 5 of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things is also going to be the final season of the show. It was supposed to be deep into production by now, but it has been slowed down due to the Hollywood strikes – first the writers strike, then the ongoing actors strike. It remains to be seen when filming is going to begin, but yesterday, November 6, 2023, was the 40th anniversary of the day Will Byers went missing in the town of Hawkins, Indiana in the first season of Stranger Things. So the show’s writers marked the occasion by sharing the first lines from the first episode of season 5 on social media:

A few months ago, it was announced that 10 Cloverfield Lane and Prey director Dan Trachtenberg will be directing an episode of Stranger Things season 5 – which also happens to be the final season of the hugely popular Netflix streaming series. That season was supposed to be deep into production by now, but has been delayed several months due to the writers and actors strikes. The writers strike recently ended, now we just need the actors strike to come to an end so Stranger Things can get rolling. While waiting for his chance to report to the Stranger Things set, Trachtenberg has been doing the press rounds to promote the physical media release of his Predator movie Prey… and during a conversation with Collider, he talked about signing on to bring an episode of Stranger Things to the screen and working with the show’s creators The Duffer Brothers.

Season 5 of the Netflix series Stranger Things – which also happens to be the final season of the show – was supposed to be a couple months into filming at this point. But production was delayed by the writers strike, then the writers were joined on the picket lines by members of the Screen Actors Guild. So it’s going to be a little while before this season finally gets up and running. While we wait for the strikes to be resolved, Stranger Things creators Duffer Brothers have gone ahead and revealed that the character of Will Byers, played by Noah Schnapp, will be taking center stage in this last season.

The Netflix series Stranger Things will be coming to an end with its fifth season, and filming is set to begin very soon. While cast member Noah Schnapp, who plays Will Byers on the show, has said that he will be reporting to the set in May, he co-star David Harbour, who plays Jim Hopper, revealed during the Middle East Film & Comic Con in Abu Dhabi (as reported by Collider) that he will begin working on Stranger Things season 5 in June. And he promised that we can expect to see a Hopper who has been “well-fed” this time around, as opposed to the much smaller version of the character we saw in season 4.

The Netflix series Stranger Things will soon be heading into production on its fifth and final season – so soon that David Harbour, who plays Jim Hopper on the show, will be working on both Stranger Things and the Marvel movie Thunderbolts at the same time in Atlanta this year. And cast member Sadie Sink is not looking forward to the show ending, saying that the idea of Stranger Things coming to an end is “scary and sad”.
Speaking with Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush on Today, Sink said (with thanks to Deadline), “We know that it’s happening and that it’s the last season, so it’s going to be emotional, I’m sure. Spoiler-free, just with the way my character ended in season 4, I have no idea what is going to happen. But I’ll be there. … (Stranger Things ending) is going to be awful. It’s going to be horrible.

The most popular moment in season 4 of the Netflix series Stranger Things came when the character Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn) played guitar along to the Metallica song “Master of Puppets” while facing off with the forces of evil in the Upside Down. And during a recent interview with Howard Stern, Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich explained the decision to let the show use the song, and discussed what it was like to see the renewed interest in “Master of Puppets” thirty-six years after the song was first released.
Speaking with Stern, Ulrich said (with thanks to The Hollywood Reporter for the transcription), “It used to be, with Metallica, we were always the ‘no’ guys. … A few years ago, we reversed it, we did a 180. As if we needed more proof that Vecna has been lurking in Hawkins since the beginning of our "Stranger Things" journey, fans recently spotted a clue in season four that foreshadows one character's death way before it happens. While people create endless fan art and petitions to mourn Eddie Munson's death, one not-so-beloved character recently caught the attention of Reddit user hunimpressed. "Caught this on my rewatch. The scene, which takes place in the second episode of season four, features Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) at a party with his fellow basketball teammates, a group of jocks fronted by rich athlete Jason Carver (Mason Dye). "First hangover feels like you're gonna split in two," Jason tells Lucas after the team go out drinking together.

This article obviously contains enormous spoilers for Stranger Things season 4.
Pop culture has trained us well to expect some corpses in the season finales of our favorite television shows. When it comes to Stranger Things season 4, however, it was particularly clear that a cast culling was in store.
Not only has Stranger Things not been shy about callously murdering its characters in the past but season 4 almost had to kill off some folks as a matter of pure logistics. It’s well-covered territory that this is the longest Stranger Things season by far with each episode running in excess of 70 minutes and the final two episodes going for an hour and a half and two and a half hours, respectively. A lot of that narrative bloat can be attributed to the show’s overwhelmingly large cast size and the disparate journeys they all go on.
Suffice it to say, fans...

The conclusion to “Stranger Things” Season 4 arrives July 1 in the form of two final episodes, the finale of which has a runtime of over two hours. Combined, the two episodes add up to almost four hours. And while it’s only been a month since Volume 1 came out, you may be in need of a brief recap before diving into the epic conclusion.
The most unforgettable twist in Season 4 so far might be the role of Jamie Campbell Bower’s character in tying everything together, including the long-desired explanation of the mythology behind the Upside Down. The fate of characters like Nancy, who was caught in Vecna’s clutches at the end of Volume I, and Eleven, who went on a mission to regain her telekinetic powers, come next in the threads we expect to be tied at the end of this fourth season. Netflix's decision to save the final two episodes of Stranger Things Season 4 until July 1 didn't go down well with fans.
The streaming service dropped a full-length trailer for the final two episodes on Tuesday, and it looks like we're in for another A+ conclusion for the 1980s-set drama.
The mission to save Hawkins is poised to be Eleven's biggest battle to date, and after learning how she and Vecna know each other on Stranger Things Season 4 Episode 7, well, it's going to lead to some more heartbreak.
The trailer utilizes Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill," once again to build the tension as all of these characters prepare to fight demons, both literal and physical.
One scene that sticks out from the trailer features Max caught by Vecna again, likely teasing a brutal beatdown between the pair.

One scene that sticks out from the trailer features Max caught by Vecna again, likely teasing a brutal beatdown between the pair.

“Stranger Things 4” viewership has been so strong it’s spooky. The fourth season of Eleven & friends’ sci-fi exploits just broke the “Bridgerton” Season 2 record for most hours viewed within a show’s first 28 days and it only needed 17 days to do it. Through those two-and-a-half weeks, “Stranger Things” Season 4 amassed 781.04 million hours viewed, according to Netflix’s own internal tally. (“Stranger Things 4” added another 159.24 million hours this past week.)
Not only did “Stranger Things” Season 4 not require the full four weeks to shatter the previously-held English-language TV record, it also didn’t need its final two supersized episodes to do it. Those, which include the nearly two-and-a-half-hour season finale, drop July 1; the first seven episodes of the penultimate season landed on Netflix May 27.
Last week, “Stranger Things 4” ranked third all-time (with 621.80 million hours viewed) on Netflix’s Most Popular TV (English) list, behind Season 1 of Shonda Rhimes’ “Bridgerton” (625.49 million) and...

The end is nigh for the residents of Hawkins.
Netflix on Tuesday unveiled photos for the final two episodes of Stranger Things Season 4.
These episodes are set to drop on the streaming service around the globe on Friday, July 1, and will prepare fans for the final season of the sci-fi drama.
We see Eleven and Benner in one of the photos, presumably in the aftermath of her failed escape from the bunker.
Eleven finally knows the truth about what happened in the lead-up to the Hawkins Laboratory Massacre, something that will stick with her as she embarks on her journey.
The youngster's journey has been about getting answers to the blanks in her memory, coming to terms with her powers, and saving her friends.
Given where we left the rest of the characters on Stranger Things Season 4 Episode 7, we're in for a lot of drama.

Eleven has lost her powers at the end of Stranger Things’ third season and they don’t appear to have returned in the first trailer for the long-delayed fourth season of the Netflix supernatural drama series.
“War is coming,” warns the Mind Flayer in the trailer, which gives a glimpse into the chaos that Millie Bobby Brown’s Eleven, Noah Schnapp’s Will Byers, Finn Wolfhard’s Mike Wheeler, Gaten Matarazzo’s Dustin Henderson and Caleb McLaughlin’s Lucas Sinclair as well as the rest of Hawkins, Indiana will face in the upcoming season.
Promising that “every ending has a beginning” – a nod to the recent news that season five will be the show’s final season, and showing the cast trying to be as normal as possible, their nemesis adds, “You’ve broken everything… you’re suffering is almost at an end”.

Stranger Things is bringing a former villain back into the fold.
Netflix dropped a new Stranger Things Season 4 teaser on Thursday, and it teases a cataclysmic event that could have dire consequences for Eleven.
It looks like Martin Brenner is back in the mix -- or at least someone who looks like him is back up to his old tricks.
We get to see a nursery for the people with special abilities, and well, all of the kids refer to him as Papa, just like Eleven did back in the day.
The trailer shows Martin walking down the corridor as the camera pans down the corridor to focus on room No. 11.
Martin says that he has "something very special planned" for the kids that day, but we don't get any confirmation on what it is.
When the camera does reach room No. 11, we hear the following dialogue:
"Eleven, are you listening?...

The long wait for Stranger Things Season 4 is poised to continue well into 2022.
A fan of the series asked Finn Wolfhard, who plays Mike Wheeler, when Stranger Things Season 4 is expected to launch on Netflix, and the actor shared the following:
"Season 4? It should be out sometime next year, hopefully," the actor said, according to Games Radar.
Netflix did not offer a premiere date update for the series during its investors call this week, instead revealing that You Season 3, The Witcher Season 2, and Cobra Kai Season 4 would arrive during the fourth quarter of 2021.
If the show does sit all of 2021 out, it would be the biggest gap between seasons yet.
Stranger Things Season 1 dropped in July 2016, while Stranger Things Season 2 dropped in October 2017, and more recently, Stranger Things Season 3 arrived in July 2019.
Production on Stranger Things Season 4 kicked off in February 2020, but the Covid-19 pandemic brought it to a halt swiftly.

The man behind legendary horror villain Freddy Krueger is coming to “Stranger Things.” Netflix’s wildly popular show announced a slew of new casting details on Friday, including the news that Robert Englund will play a recurring role in “Stranger Things” Season 4.
The show’s social media accounts revealed that Englund is among the newcomers who will appear in the series’ fourth season. The wildly popular Netflix show has cast Jamie Campbell Bower (“Sweeney Todd”), Eduardo Franco (“Booksmart”) and Joseph Quinn (“Catherine the Great”) as series regulars, as well as Robert Englund (best known for playing Freddy Krueger in “A Nightmare on Elm Street”) among several other recurring actors.
Like almost every other show, production on season 4 was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic, but was up and running again from last month. Exact plot details for season 4 are being kept under wraps, but a teaser for the new episodes released way back in February finally gave fans confirmation that Hopper (David Harbour) did in fact survive the events of the Season 3 finale and is now being held as a prisoner in the Soviet Union.
