Screen Media will release the indie kill-or-be-killed crime drama Blood and Money starring Tom Berenger on VOD this weekend to give you a jolt of thrills.
Directed by long-time cinematographer John Barr, the pic stars Oscar-nominated and Emmy-winning actor Tom Berenger as a retired veteran who, while is hunting in the Allagash backcountry of Northern Maine, discovers the body of a dead woman with a bag full of cash.
Things start to unravel when he runs into a group of criminals who are searching for said bag of cash after a botched casino robbery lands them right smack dab in the middle of the snowy woods while trying to escape to Canada. As they hunt one another over the course of a few days, the things become a game of survival game of the hunter becoming the hunted.

Hussain - whose short Real Gods Prefer Blood played in Critics' Week in 2017 incorporates a mystic element to a father and son story in his latest, while Cronenberg focuses on a woman's treatment at an experimental psychiatric facility.
The 10 films in the line-up also include the world premieres of Lucia En El Limbo, by Valentina Maurel who won 1st prize Cinéfondation for her 2017 short Paul Is Here, and Tuesday from 8 to 6, directed by Cecilia de Arce. Documentarires include Pia Borg's Demonic, which considers the satanic ritual abuse scares of the 1980s and the phenomenon of false memories.

The 2019 Cannes Critics’ Week lineup as been announced, revealing the seven features and 10 short films that will compete in the prestigious sidebar to the Cannes Film Festival. Critics’ Week is celebrating its 58th year in 2019. “Embrace of the Serpent” filmmaker and “Birds of Passage” co-director Ciro Guerra is serving as the president of the Critics’ Week jury.
This year’s Critics’ Week competition includes the world premiere of “Vivarium,” a science-fiction thriller from Irish filmmaker Lorcan Finnegan (“Without a Name”). The movie stars Jesse Eisenberg and Imogen Poots as a young couple who move into a new housing development, only to discover the place is far more surreal than anticipated. “Vivarium” is Finnegan’s second feature. Following last week’s unveiling of the Cannes Film Festival lineup, the sidebar of Critics’ Week has now revealed their program. With a jury headed by Embrace of the Serpent and Birds of Passage director Ciro Guerra, the lineup includes Lorcan Finnegan‘s sci-fi thriller Vivarium, starring Imogen Poots and Jesse Eisenberg and Hlynur Pálmason’s Winters Brothers follow-up A White, White Day. The 58th edition of Critics’ Week has unveiled its program for this year’s Cannes Film Festival. The section welcomes first or second features and boasts a number of debuts which will be eligible for the Camera d’Or in 2019.
