Lisa Van Gemert(I)
Lisa Van Gemert was born in Newport Beach, California. She was raised in Southern California and attended Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo immediately after graduating from El Camino High School in Oceanside.
She eventually studied in Germany as well, and earned both undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Texas at Arlington.
She was an intelligence analyst in the US Army, and was stationed at Fort Huachuca, Arizona.
She taught at Roquemore Elementary and Lamar High School before becoming an assistant principal at Martin High School, all in Arlington, Texas.
In 2010, she left the classroom to become Mensa's Youth & Education Ambassador. While at Mensa, she developed award-winning lesson plans, served as a Reading Promotion Partner with the Library of Congress, wrote the Children's Guide to the National Book Festival, and made numerous television and radio appearances.
In 2015 she began consulting full time, and works with students and teachers and parents around the world.
She is married to Steven Van Gemert, an Australian software developer, and they have three sons.
