As the Tarla Dalal biopic ‘Tarla’ started streaming on Zee5 on Friday, Huma Qureshi, who plays the lead role, and Sharib Hashmi, her on-screen husband, stepped out in style to promote the film with dabbawalas.
Dressed in a flowing pink outfit, and sporting a Gandhi topi, which is a part of the dabbawala uniform, Huma carried a big tiffin in her hand. Sharib opted for a green shirt and enjoyed posing and interacting with the dabbawalas. The two then settled down for lunch with the dabbawala.
‘Tarla’ is a captivating biopic that chronicles the extraordinary life of home cook-turned-popular TV show host and cookbook author Tarla Dalal, who rises from humble beginnings to attain national renown.

Ginny, Sunny and their not so funny misadventure of love sets you wondering within 10 minutes of the start: Why was this film made in the first case? The question plays in your mind on the loop all through the runtime that follows. By the end of it, you realise this was a couple of hours ill-spent.
Watch Ginny Weds Sunny official Trailer
https://youtu.be/WTJW2Ol1c0g
It's all very formula-bound and, like the tired remix of a past-expiry-date Mika song in the film, absolutely unnecessary.
Billed as rom-com with very little ‘rom' and almost no ‘com', Puneet Khanna's debut directorial effort runs low on entertainment quotient right from the start, doing gross disservice to a cast that impressively manages to rise above the unimaginative writing. You feel bad for Yami Gautam and Vikrant Massey, as well as the half dozen-odd prop actors who eagerly try living...

It was a blast playing Ginny as she is a headstrong girl, not letting anyone or anything ever let her down. Her mother, a matchmaker is hell bent on getting her married and kya Ginny karegi shaadi? Aur kis se hogi uski shaadi? Aao aur jaano iss kahani ko, 9th October, sirf Netflix pe!
While he cooks great dishes in the kitchen, life does not have the perfect recipe in story for Sunny. He wants to get married but the challenge of winning over Ginny is more formidable than he signs up for.
I play a quintessential Punjabi boy from Delhi in the film, which was a first for me. Aapko invitation aa gaya hai, aur moharat hai 9th October ka… aao aur dekho - the wedding (headache) of the year!
Headstrong Ginny meets Sunny for an arranged marriage, but turns him down. Sunny then teams up with Ginny's mother to win her love.

Jai Mummy Di
Starring Sunny Singh, Sonnalli Seygall, Poonam Dhillon, Supriya Pathak
Written & Directed by Navjot Gulati
The good newzz (excuse my sloppy spelling) is that there is a romcom far funnier than the recent overrated Good Newzz. In many sections of Jai Mummy Di, the deftly cut sharply written comedy I found myself laughing so hard I thought my sides would split.
Take this. Our hangdog-faced hero Puneet finds a ingenious formula to get rid of the hyper woman(a cousin to Yami Gautam in Bala) he’s being forced to marry.
He tells her he is gay.
Bride-to-be refuses to believe her husband-to-be. “You can’t be gay. Have you ever worn V-necked t-shirts?”
Then she kisses him ….errr… hard. “If one kiss does this to you imagine what more would do,” she giggles and dismisses his homosexual act, as Puneet stares helplessly at his giveaway evidence.

The keyword here is 'Mummy', so they needed to come up with a cracker of a mother figure to bring alive the gig. "Jai Mummy Di", as the posters and promos grandly announced, serves up not one but two mummyjis for the sake of its plot. With veterans Supriya Pathak and Poonam Dhillon playing out the mummyjis, you'd think very little can possibly go wrong.
Well, nearly everything goes wrong. A rom-com feature with the imagination quotient of an amateur play manages to be neither romantic nor comic. Writer-director Navjot Gulati, who makes his full-length feature debut with this film, settles for hackneyed tropes to carry forward his tale. The script calls for loud acting from the said mummyjis, and a jaded romance/ melodrama/ naach-gaana routine on the part of the film's young lovers, essayed by Sunny Singh and Sonnalli Seygall.
The glaring glitch is the film's lack of genuine laugh-out-loud moments.

Running Shaadi
Starring Amit Sadh, Tapsee Pannu
Directed by Amit Roy
What do you call these? Haan, the Pheelgoood type of film. Running Shaadi keeps the proceedings running at a hectic ace. With a shaadi happening every ten minutes you’d expect a certain strain monotony to waft into the proceedings. But no. Debutant director Amit Roy knows how to make every shaadi look fresh…or freessss, as our Bihari hero would say.
And hey, this is as good a place as any to tell you, Amit Sadh’s Bihari accent is bang-on. Neither overdone, nor too casual it fits the character’s lackadaisical personality like a hand in glove. Ram Bharose—yup, that’s our Bihari Baba’s name—a Bihari migrant in Amritsar, loves the feisty Punjabi girl Nimmi.
She is the doughty Sardarni who at the beginning of the film asks her father’s helpful employee to help her with an abortion.
