“If I were Boris Johnson, I wouldn’t want to read it” said the Sunday Times review of Rachel Clarke’s Covid-19 NHS frontline memoir Breathtaking. If I were Boris Johnson, and capable of experiencing shame, I wouldn’t want to watch this humane, truth-telling TV adaptation either.
Breathtaking is not about Boris Johnson or the corridors of power; it’s an unvarnished record of what happened in the corridors and wards of NHS hospitals during the Coronavirus pandemic. Over three one-hour episodes based on Clarke’s experiences and research interviews, it follows fictional consultant Dr Abbey Henderson (Joanne Froggatt) and colleagues through the early days and the worst of the virus.
Why should we have to go through all of that again on screen – wasn’t once enough? Perhaps. But if your pandemic, like mine, was more about sourdough and Joe Wicks than pain and loss, then it feels...

BBC has removed Russell Brand content from the network’s iPlayer and sound sites in light of the rape and sexual assault allegations against the comedian, after the network “assessed that [the content] now falls below public expectations,” according to a BBC spokesperson.
The network has yet to announce which programs were pulled, but the news division of the organization found that an episode of the game show “Qi” and an episode of Joe Wicks podcast, both of which featured Brand as a guest, were removed. Shortly after the original report was published, Channel 4, which heavily contributed to the report through its “Dispatches” program, pulled several episodes that featured Brand.
Additionally, YouTube has announced it has suspended advertisements to Brand’s content, no longer allowing Brand to make money from videos on its site. The tech company emphasized that Brand violated YouTube’s “Creator Responsibility policy.”

The BBC said Tuesday that it has removed programming featuring Russell Brand from its streaming services iPlayer and BBC Sounds, saying it has “assessed that it now falls below public expectations.”
The comedian faces accusations of rape, sexual assault and emotional abuse, which he has denied. An investigation by The Times, Sunday Times and Channel 4 Dispatches this weekend unveiled sexual misconduct accusations from four women against Brand from between 2006 and 2013.
“The BBC does not ban or remove content when it is a matter of public record unless we have justification for doing so,” a BBC news report cited a representative for the U.K. public broadcaster as saying. “There is limited content featuring Russell Brand on iPlayer and Sounds. We’ve reviewed that content and made a considered decision to remove some of it, having assessed that it now falls below public expectations.”

John Wick fans were left with their hands over their eyes after watching Roman Kemp interview Keanu Reeves.
The Capital FM host sat down with Reeves ahead of the release of John Wick: Chapter 4, for an interview in which Kemp quizzed Reeves on a number of light-hearted questions.
Kemp – who is the son of Martin and Shirlie Kemp – asked Reeves who would win in a fight between John Wick and fitness influencer Joe Wicks.
“I know it’s hard to believe but John Wick doesn’t really wanna fight, so let’s just talk about life and fitness, John Wick hashtag fitness,” Reeves replied.
Kemp also asked him if John Wick would know how much a halogen lightbulb would cost in the hardware store Wickes.
In another awkward exchange, Kemp asked Reeves if it was true that he was an Arsenal fan. When the actor said no, Kemp continued: “You’re not?...

It’s not often a young actor finds himself shooting scenes with the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Aniston or Michael Keaton. But such has been the meteoric career of Will Poulter. He talks to Tim Lewis about boomerang eyebrows, acting and activism – and his sneaker obsession
The actor Will Poulter arrives for our lunch date alone, 15 minutes early and, perhaps counter-intuitively, carrying a bag of his own food. He explains that he’s on a strict diet for a film role, but can’t tell me what the part is. He buys a juice from the café that I’m not sure he actually wants, and suggests we sit outside, which is pretty damp and cold if I’m honest, because he thinks it would be taking the piss somewhat to occupy a table inside when he’s only bought a drink. Poulter’s thoughtful like that. He then...

”It is not something that is sustainable should this pandemic continue indefinitely.”
A year after the UK government launched the £500m Production Restart Scheme (Prs) for film and TV shoots that would not otherwise have been able to secure insurance for Covid-related costs, producers, financiers and insurance experts confirm it has been an astonishing success.
“If it hadn’t been for the Production Restart Scheme, we would not have been able to make the film,” says producer Elizabeth Karlsen of Number 9 Films of Mothering Sunday which went into production in mid-September last year as one of the first films to use the scheme.

He’s done weather forecasts and dream reports on his YouTube channel. Now the director is pulling numbers out of a jar – and he’s finally drawn mysterious seven. Numerology sleuths are on the case
You might not have realised it at the time – you might not even realise it now – but on Friday afternoon, something truly momentous happened: David Lynch pulled a seven out of a jar.
For the most part, the burst of online celebrity visibility that marked the start of the Covid crisis has dribbled down to almost nothing. Joe Wicks has stopped doing Pe lessons. John Krasinski’s Some Good News show screeched to a halt four months ago. Mercifully, nobody else has attempted another group singalong of Imagine. But David Lynch is still plugging away, updating his YouTube account twice daily.

From Joe Wicks’s high energy Pe lessons to Boris Johnson’s “mild symptoms” video tweet to recreating a daily commute in the shower, online video is playing a bigger role in the collective experience during the coronavirus lockdown than ever before, British Film Institute curators have said.

Soccer Aid for Unicef 2019, broadcast live and exclusively on ITV and Stv this week, has raised a record-breaking £6,774,764 so far – over £1m more than last year’s on the night total – for Unicef’s vital work keeping children around the world happy, healthy and safe to play.
This amount was raised thanks to the generous support of the UK public, ITV and Stv viewers, and the UK government who have matched all donations so far, doubling the difference made to children’s lives. This figure has smashed all previous records for money raised on the night.
The eagerly anticipated match took place in London for the first time in over a decade, packing out Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge Stadium with a whopping 39,836 in attendance. The match ended in a 2-2 draw, leading to a nail-biting penalty shoot-out for the second year in a row, with the Soccer Aid World XI...

YouTube Red's first unscripted original series in the UK will be led by a comedian, a bunch of superstar footballers, and a handful of popular YouTubers. It's called Training Days, and it will be hosted by English funnyman Jack Whitehall.
In Training Days, Whitehall and his athletic guests will undertake a series of activities that have nothing to do with sports. He will join Colombian striker Radamel Falcao, for example, to shoot a perfume ad, and he will visit a haunted house alongside Tottenham Hotspurs standout Dele Alli.
It won't just be all-world soccer players, however, who will hang with Whitehall on his upcoming show. YouTube stars who are expected to appear on the program include Joe Sugg, Manny, Joe Wicks, and The F2 Freestylers. Ahead of the release of Training Days, Whitehall has already started collaborating with those creators. In a video on his channel, he played a game...

Three of Holland’s most decorated players have announced they will take part in Soccer Aid for Unicef this summer.
Patrick Kluivert will make his debut for the Soccer Aid World XI, with Jaap Stam returning at the heart of the defence in front of goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar who has also starred previously.
The Dutch triumvirate – two of which, Stam and van der Sar, enjoyed successful club careers with Manchester United at Old Trafford – will team up with compatriot Clarence Seedorf who has already announced that he too will play for the Soccer Aid World XI.
An imposing central defender, Jaap Stam won a range of trophies with some of Europe’s top clubs across a 15-year career. Included in this was a three-year stay at Manchester United, where he is remembered fondly as part of the ’99 treble-winning side.
Edwin van der Sar was one of the finest goalkeepers of his generation.
